What's hard to understand? Seeing deluded people get their @sses handed to them on national tv by Simon is the lure of the early rounds, then later the lure is to see who will crack under pressure and who will thrive. At a certain point if you watch each week you'll get a favorite person or two and it makes the show that much more interesting.

Glad to see 24 and Idol back, now I just wish the Sopranos and Entourage would return!!

Him and Fantasia are having a contest to see who can do nothing the longest.

Fantasia had a platinum debut album and the second one is doing ok. Hicks's album just came out 4 weeks ago and is gold (probably will go platinum once he gets some of that free AI publicity during the season). Ruben is the one thats really struggling. His second album flopped.

I love the auditions but turn it off after those are done. The rest of the show is stupid. I think it would be better if they had to use their own material but all the covers just suck.

Well, that, and there isn't too much of an R&B crowd out there... at least not that watches American Idol. The others have a much broader/more popular genre of music to offer.

Same here. I like to watch the auditions to see people who think they sing well fall on their face. Some of the reactions are priceless.

The audio was messed up for the first 90 minutes when I recorded it

At least I got to see that juggling freak break down after getting rejected.
Somebody needs to tell Paula to stop swaying back and forth and just sit still.

I can't wait to see the 2 freaks they hyped up in the promo tonight.

Oh yeah American Idol just keeps getting bigger and bigger. There were over 41 million people watching in the 2nd hr. The 15.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic was miles better than the other 4 networks combined.
