    Re: *** American Idol: Season 6 ***

    a few quick comments from me;

-According to dialdiol everyone is in danger tonight except for Blake

-Haley was by far the worst.

-I thought phil did alright, until his voice cracked. Depends how much people are bothered by that momentary mistake.

-Blake stole the show. Easily the best performance of the night, maybe of the season.

-Lakisha is on the bottom of dial idol, although thats no promise shes gone unfortunatly, since Haley was in that spot last week.

-Sanjaya did well vocally in my opinion. Not my taste in music so its not something I can go back on, download and enjoy like I did with bathwater and waiting on the world.

-Tonights result show is 1 hour

-Chris Richardson is getting a lot of negitive reviews from websites and people at work, but I actually like his performance.

-Melinda....same ol same ol. Great voice, but just does nothing for me.

-Jordin...well, it was quite forgetable and hopefully wont cost her, but she is 2nd to last on dialidol predictions.

I didn't even watch it. I caught a glimpse of Haley while I drifted in and out of sleep, but that's it. I'll download it later on today.

American Idol this year is all over the place. For instance, last year I could be at least 90% on what the judges would say after someone's performance. This year, I can't second guess them at all. I think it's because the majority of the talent this year tanks in a big way. They(the judges) are stuck with them, and need to find something good at the top of the heap.
This is really the first year for me(and I've seen them all except for the first) I'm more than not shaking my head at the the amazingly amount of medicore or poor performances. Last night really blew IMO. Theme nights are something that really need to go. Instead,I think they should have a big list of songs that you can see on the net or off a cell phone, and let the viewers pick which songs the contestants should sing. After all, isn't it their American Idol?
Alright,tonight-I think Chris should go for "mostsuckysong"award. Honorable mention would be Haley(she needs to stay though, for obvious reasons). But,once again,Phil shouldn't think the grass is growing under his feet. His days are numbered. Melinda was best IMO. Sanjaya-not even going there. I'll stay with my original idea on him-two words"Acting career!" Sorry,M.B.W.F

Well I got some information on whos leaving tonight. Theres no way I can say its 100% because nothing like this ever is. To his credit though, this guy has been right in predicting elimination since the top 12, including both Chris Sligh and Gina last week. Has also has been correct in his spoilers for song selections each week before the show has gone on the air. So I will continue to believe he is correct, until he proves otherwise. I dont want to spoil it for anyone who doesnt want it though, so pm me if you want to know.

Yea I really liked his performance this past week, but I was in the minority. Maybe I was bias because I like the song, but I thought he performed it very well.

I like that song too. I thought Chris was all over the place and I've seen him do better many times. It's getting down to the wire and making mistakes or being" pitchy " doesn't get it anymore. You didn't think he had some pitch problems on that song? I think Blake can outlast him,a more rounded ,versatile performer. But still, I think it's really time for Phil to head for the showers, game over............

I'm only analyzing Sanjaya because well...this is a relatively weak group this year. Tho a couple of the female singers are ok.

Anywho Sanjaya did well vocally but his voice is not strong enough. He just couldn't lift his vocals over the music.

Thank you! I say that because the group this year is really sketchy in the talent department, and the majority of America appears to be blind to itGuess the show must go on,can't stop now.
On the other hand ,the judges of AI have created this Frankenstein monster and now must live with it.
I'm not a ***** of American Idol. I have watched every episode this year and will stay with it till the end. Hopefully, when they go on tour they will have the pitch correction machine good and warmed up.

I agree that this is a very weak year for American Idol. Of all of the performers I would only purchase an album from Blake Lewis and the people I talk about this show with agree. I think in time Jordin Sparks could be big pop star. Chris Richardson's future seems better suited for country. Other than that I don't see anyone doing much for a music career.

I just wish the judges would come down on Melinda for song choice. Every other contestant gets criticized when they stay in a safe zone, but for whatever reason it is okay for her to sing songs that are older than Simon week in and week out. If she wins, which is possible, I hope they aren't surprised when she is the lowest selling winner they've had.

You can really tell who's good at teaching and who isn't - witness the week that Tony Bennett was on the show and everyone sang like gangbusters, or the week with Lu-Lu and Peter Noone when everyone was great. But this week and the Gwen week were both generally terrible.
The genre didnt do them any favors, but I have to disagree about J-Lo. I thought she was giving them very good advice on how to perform the songs and get the audience to respond to them. It just seemed like no one listened to her. Sanjaya and Blake seemed to be the only ones who really tried to do what she said. Blake had the performance of the night and Sanjaya didnt royally suck. Everyone else's performances were forgettable.

I guess what I meant was that the good mentors elevate even the worst performers on the show to acceptable status. People like Haley and Phil actually sang well on the shows I mentioned, despite being the worst contestants. Blake is Blake every week, Melinda is Melinda every week - they don't need mentoring to teach them how to sell a song to an audience because they already know. But the bad ones on the show really need help to connect with the songs and I feel like they didn't get that from J-Lo.

Though I was impressed by her sincerity and realness with all the contestants.

I think that is fair enough. I think J-Lo tried to help, but she is a performer not a teacher and that was clear. That being said, if at this point performers need that help to do well, they aren't American Idol finalist material.
