Generally true but Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) has done well for herself and I love the song "2 become 1" which she basically sang lead on. She also had a pretty good tune post Spice Girls which I can't recall off the top of my head which I thought was pretty good.

I'm not a fan of Timberlake by any means but I think you have to give him some credit because he can actually sing and does have some talent.

You guys are right that the show isn't 100% about talent but Sanjaya isn't well liked enough by the general public to win. He'll hang around like Kevin Covais did but he'll not even be in the top 5. The young teenage girl vote only goes so far.

Let's be honest when has talent ever really mattered for shows like these. It's all about presence and charisma which this kid seems to have in spades. Music engineers just press a few buttons and they can make the worst singers sound like Sinatra on an album and in concert.

Britney, Ashlee, Jessica Simpson... most of them need the fix on the vocals BADLY or else they'd sound average.

Hell, even Shania Twain uses vocal pitch correctors live, but least she doesn't lip sing the songs like the above 3.

Timberlake CAN sing to save his life, but for as much dancing the guy does on state sometimes it's better to lip sing certain songs... afterall the guy is putting on a show just not sitting there singing.

Most rock bands sing like complete crap live. Even worse than most of these teeny boppers.

R&B singers and Country Singers have to be good live since there's so many that are trying to get into the industry.

It's not always a matter of singing ability, talent, but more so WHO FINDS YOU or WHO YOU KNOW that gets you in.

Weekend story, and im expecting bashing, so just bring it.

I bought a "Vote for sanjaya" shirts for 9 bucks. Well actually brought a tshirt and had it printed on. Later that night me and my cousin went to see blades of glory, but spent the first hour at the mall. HOLYCRAP does it bring out a crowd. My cousin said it made him feel like I was a celebrity. I literally had 4 conversations with strangers in the hour I was there with people about the show and sanjaya. I must have had at the very least 5 "go sanjaya", 3 or 4 eyeroll's, and 8 or 9 "did you see his shirt" , and another handful asking where I got it.

My conversations were actually with 3 females and 1 dude. None of them were 13 year old tennyboppers. They were all over the age of 19, and all of them said they like him as well, but only 1 of them actually voted.

Wow no commentary from last night?

For me Blake showed why he should win this show. I am sick of the Melinda talk, yes she has a great voice, but she is so far from contemporary she should be wearing a poodle skirt. Blake is the only one they have with the potential to sell albums.

As for Sanjaya, he wasn't the worst, I'd give that honor to Haley or Phil. At least Haley dresses like a whore to entertain us, so baldy can go.

I agree with pretty much everything there. I think Blake will have a very successful career in music when all this is said and done because he knows how to entertain, knows what works, and knows how to sell songs. He's just a very intelligent, crafty performer who clearly knows the ins and outs of the music business.

In general, nobody really wowed me last night. But I expected that because I anticipated that none of them would be comfortable with the Latin genre and that J-Lo would have very little to impart in the way of mentoring. You can really tell who's good at teaching and who isn't - witness the week that Tony Bennett was on the show and everyone sang like gangbusters, or the week with Lu-Lu and Peter Noone when everyone was great. But this week and the Gwen week were both generally terrible.

Haley or Phil will be leaving tonight. Haley's performance was a real trainwreck last night, but those legs....oh, those legs. So she can stay another week.

Based solely from me voting last night, I would be very surprised to see LaKisha Jones around on April 17. I was 15 for 15 with her within the first hour of the show.

In about 80 attempts with Melinda, I probably got through 24 times.
