I agree with Skerik about how, at this point, everyone is going to get a record deal. When the show was in its infancy, the tension was so high for the last three or four contestants. Now, it's a forgone conclusion that the top 6 will be on the radio within the next 6 months. Come on, Melinda didn't even look disappointed. It did, however, surprise me that the judges were lukewarm to the voters' decision. I thought Simon would have been more upset, but maybe they saw it coming. I thought race may play a role in the vote, as well as the fact that she isn't a skinny girl, so the result didn't surprise me either. They haven't had a soulful voice like Melinda's since Fantasia, so I held out hope that she could eek into the top two. I have no interest in the final two, so I won't be watching next week, either.

Yeah but even during all through the different artists I thought Melinda was top 2 each week. I think Jordin ends up winning since every1 who voted for Melinda will now vote for Jordin.

Yeah I kind of figured it would be Melinda who went home. She was definitely the best singer of them all, but I am more than sure that her look was her downfall. Also, like someone said, she was old school and doesn't really appeal to the young audience which unsurprisingly will be the target audience. I don't think she will have the type of success that translates into millions of albums sold. Blake and Jordin have a better shot at that, especially Blake, but I think Jordin wins.

Anyway, look at Elliot Yamin for a model of what someone who finishes 3rd can do with their career, post-AI. His new album is apparently doing really well, he's got a tour, he's all shined up and got his scraggly teeth fixed....he seems to be doing well for himself, just like Melinda will be doing this time next year.

Unless Blake really comes up with something extraordinary, I think this is Jordin's competition to lose next week. But Blake is a wildcard. Another "You Give Love a Bad Name" type of performance and this could be close.

I don't think performance effects the vote that much in the final rounds. When there were 4 left, it was obvious Lakisha was leaving before I heard them sing. Then this week you knew Blake was staying, even though he was the worst singer of the three. And Melinda was voted off before Jordan for looks. Unless Jordan completely bombs next week she should win it.

I think Jordin will win, but I too will be rooting for Blake. For the same reasons that I liked Taylor last season - he's a musician and he didn't just fall off the assembly line of pop female vocalists.

I think it's a toss-up. I think Jordin deserves to win but I think Blake will just edge it.

Either the top 10 or 15 have to sign a contract with the producers of American Idol so if they do get signed they are the ones who represent them, or something like that.

I am pretty sure its the Top 10, it is part of going on the American Idol tour.

I knew it was one of those. But yeah, they're already signed when they're in the top 10 so it really doesn't matter. Except the winners probably get more money and that "American Idol" title.

I don't think they're signed per say, I think it moreso grants the studio behind Idol a right of first refusal to sign them to a recording deal.
