I agree wholeheartedly with this, more so with NFL then MLB. I remember when the Sacramento Gold Miners of the CFL moved to San Antionio to become the Texans. They had an avg. attendence of 15 thousand+ which is pretty good for the CFL except they played in such a huge stadium.

I think SA can be a great NFL market but unfortunately Houston and Dallas are too close. I don't think the NFL wants a 3rd team in one state.

Definitely. Hartford was drawing 10,xxx a game towards the end of their run. With bad Jets teams and a smaller population, Winnipeg was always at 13,000+ in their last years. It was lousy peripheral deals (concessions/parking) and the need for a new arena that did the team in.

Hockey left Hartford for a reason, they shouldn't bring it back even though The Whale still has a mini-cult following.

If you look at the economics of the NHL today I believe that Winnipeg would be a huge success story in the same vein as Minnesota with the Wild.

BRING BACK THE JETS! (or at least NHL hockey in Winnipeg)

but then you'd run into stuff like the texans and cowboys complaining about another team eating into their territory. Texas has some great sized markets, which is probably why the cowboys and texans are two of the top 4 most valuable NFL franchises.

Houston was able to get tons of cash in just a few years, mostly due to all the fortune 500 companies in their territory willing to sign marketing deals.

Which makes me shake my head. Did the Oilers leave Houston only because Bud Adams wanted the city to pay for a new stadium?

Are you from San Antonio? I am, and we been trying to get one for years.
