    Re: The Simpsons Movie

I'm in in Alaska right now and saw it here. Everyone loved the Alaska scene and all the jokes about it, even cheering. Not often Alaska gets a spot light in mainstream. There were actually two Alaskans that were animators so I'm sure they had an influence.

But I'm in Anchorage which is far from the what they were depicting. Though the beauty of Alaska is true.

I see nothing but amazing reviews but no one has stacked it up against other movies or comedies of the summer/year. Because it's so different maybe?

                I'm seeing it tomorrow.

I guess Im in the minority that thought it was decent but nothing that special. There were a few parts that I thought were pretty funny but overall I wasnt that impressed. I should point out Im not the biggest Simpsons fan in the world, got burnt out on it years ago, but this movie just didnt wow me like I thought it would.

I personally don't think its as funny as Hot Fuzz or Knocked Up, but its still a great movie.

That's my thinking. It isn't comparable IMO, because its not a traditional movie.

Yea it's pretty entertaining and had some great spots. Homer saying how stupid we were for paying for the movie was classic and the ad during the show was great. I found some parts to be a little too emotional for a Simpsons movie, but I definately feel like I got my money's worth.

I watched it last Saturday. Exceeded my expectations for sure for a TV show gone movie. I kind of expected Homer to do something bigger at the end though, the ending felt kind of anticlimatic and predictable. Other than that, there were definitely quite a few classic moments in the movie.

Just got around to seeing this recently. I've been a Simpsons fan since the mid 90s. I grew up watching this show. The recent years of the show have sucked. Bad. But this movie seemed to back to the show's roots.

I loved the part where Homer dares Bart to do it naked and before Homer could finish his sentence Bart's blazing down the street naked on his board. Absolutely classic. And then he flips the crowd off at one point and I nearly died from laughter.

I also recently got around to seeing it. I'm torn, I like it well enough but I felt the writers sold out a bit as parts of the humor in the movie borrowed Family Guy's formula with the pop culture references. Of course with The Simpsons it was a lot more subtle but you could tell they relied on pop culture references a little too much.

My fave part of the movie is when Moe's bar blackout and everyone is gone then Moe says he wants everybody back and with the beer and all. The power goes out again and when it's on he's in his underwear and his bar is completely cleaned out. LOL

For the most part, at least during their peak years, the Simpsons relied heavily on pop culture references. A lot of their plots are based on movies and other TV shows.
