    Re: Sorry POS

I appreciate our troops and the job they do I just wish they could come home because some of these very young men may never be the same because of the pressure they are under.

BigTigLSU. That's a perfectly good sentiment. I'm sure the troops want to come home too, but I do know that there are many, many troops that want to go back for more tours of duty there. That has to be respected. Trust me, no one is ever the same from serving during war, never, and that's a healthy concern.

Well he could of been in a different vehicle or whatever the circumstances, unfortunately it happened but he got his afterwards and he has learned his lesson. It's not good but I guess some people just have to do something stupid and get yelled at before behaving correctly.

Totally agree. Thanks to you, Jim, for your service also.

You're right man. I went to Bethesda a few weeks ago to visit an old buddy of mine who caught a sniper round in the face and there is nothing (and I mean nothing) that is more sobering than walking into that wing in Bethesda and seeing all of the wounded that will never, ever be the same.

It's enough to bring a grown man to tears.

Those men give so much of themselves only to see it used as a statistic or footnote in some politician's platform or speech.

Still my words. I don't care how much good he has done, for this, he is a POS. (when I said it I didn't mean eh..don't know how to explain. Like if some female does something and your like "wow she is a bitch" doesn't mean she is a hateful person you could never be around, just for that instance, she was a bitch ) Doesn't mean I want the guy to get caught and beheaded or have be blown up on the side of the road. I just saw it and my first reaction was WOW how could someone do that. I posted it. I'm sure he is a fine solider and he probably doesn't do crap like this every day (well have had our jerk moments) I just thought it was messed up.

EDIT: I also want to say, I have the upmost respect for people that serve our country. I for one don't think I could handle it.

Geez man, give it a break. "YET, no commander"......Here again you don't know how it works. I didn't take a good look at the vehicle and maybe Squint can fill me in. We used to call them V100s, but he might be in the back of a gun jeep of some kind. There is NO commander back there with him.

Again, if this guy is a teenager, you just can't chalk it up to youthful indescretion that we have ALL committed? Again, I know this kid got an arse chewin'. After the facts? Probably, but an arse chewin' none the less. I hope the heck you get as worked up at the beheading videos, geez.

You're takin my post out of context Jim. No, I do not know how it works out there that is fact. I was replying to another poster who said "[even though there are no cameras rolling 24/7] there are commanders who repremand soldiers 24/7".
So, there aren't commanders who can monitor activity 24/7, is this fact? Because if it is, this is exactly my point.
Once again, I appreciate all who have ever served in the armed forces. I do not support any soldiers who have vented their stress on the innocent, no matter how minor the venting.

No there aren't commanders there 24/7, but this brings up a deeper issue.

There are NCO's there and they should know better. The problem is that they are so young themselves that they don't have the experience to know much better either.

If you are referring to me, I said they reprimand and are there 24/7. (within reason, again I didn't literally mean 24/7, if they aren't there and something happens they are told) Of course no one can monitor activity 24/7 except machines, I hope that's not your point because we would never know when a crime is actually reported because if they were alone, etc.

p.s. Jim416, completely forgot about your book, not that I wouldn't want to get it either way but it looks like you have gotten some fantastic reviews on amazon. Congrats. (i have a friend that is very interested in vietnam, we'll both have to buy this)

That's cool, just as long as you treat everyone else the same way. Just as long as you and everyone else gets upset at everyone who does something bone headed, or immature. I've just seen enough, too much, of people who will take a soldier and ask for his or her head when they would turn their back on something that someone else has done that is the same or worse.

No problem, talked about it enough. God bless our troops and this great country, faults and all.

                        P2Xgamer,

Books doing well. I'm going to be on the radio here in the next couple weeks, have a book signing up in San Diego, and one at a Christmas fair here in town on Dec. 9th. It's been a great reward in my life and I've been humbled by the entire thing.

Yeah, the reviews, and half of 'em aren't even my relatives, lol. It's quite amazing because I graduated from high school with 1/2 enough credits to get out of my senior year. So miracles can happen.

My point is not that I want 24/7 monitoring, but that since cameras aren't there to capture everything that goes on out there, the result is limited coverage on injustices- and no I am not saying that tons or even any occur- just that none of us really know. That's my point.

But isn't that just a reflection of our society? There isn't 24/7 monitoring anywhere here in our country.

Do we run around calling every bully in high school or one group that makes fun of another group a POS?

Hell, half this board laughed at people dressing up as a dead Steve Irwin for Halloween and that passed with little to no fanfare.
