Wow I can't believe some people have such an accepting view of the "N" word. It truly makes my heart sink.

Well then if it's ok to call black people that then i'm gonna go out and call out for polacks, wops, jews, nips, chinks and beaners. If you hear about some Canadian guy that incited a riot and is dead you'll know who it is.

Seriously, the "N" word should be taken in the same contexts as those other words and in my humble opinion the "N" word is the worst racial epithet in human history.

    End of Story.

Don't stretch my point out that far. I just believe that certain words shouldn't be used at all.

Is that too much to ask for?

        Perhaps it is.

anyways if my above post was offensive in any way then I apologize I was just illustrating a point.

I don't know if it's the worst word in history, nothing probably surpasses it though; I would definitely say that it is the worst word of the last 200 years. I just wish the word and every variation of it would go away. I know it is not possible for the word to die out in the near future but hopefully one day people will realize that it just doesn't need to be said.

Re: Interesting "N" word article calling to artists vs. athletes

People in this thread that think it's no big deal to be called or use the word really need to think about our history. There is no "Love" in the word. It came from hate. You cannot spin it into a positive word no matter how you spell it. You use it and you are falling right in line with the people that hate you because of the color of your skin.

Don't you know they smile when they hear us calling ourselves that word? They don't care what you mean when you say it. They only know what it means to them and they love to hear us calling ourselves the word. How in the hell will we ever gain the respect we as a people want, when we disrespect ourselves by using a word that demeans and insults our race?

Just think for a moment. Just 50 years ago when a black man was lynched, what word do you think was the last he heard before death? When those nuts in Texas drug James Byrd behind their pickup truck to a horrid death, what do you think he heard before he died? Think about our history and the many black men that died hearing that word as they felt the noose slip around their neck or fire burn their skin. It's much more than just a word. It represents hate, pain and suffering. It's a word that should have been left back on the plantation. It needs to go the way of the slavery culture that created it. History.

Ok, enough is enough. I don't like the direction this thread is heading.

Besides, we've tried it in the past, OS isn't mature enough to handle discussing topics of this nature.
