Mostly true, but not for Van Hunt. Musically, VH is like a current-generation Prince since one could tell that some of his music is heavily influenced by Prince's work (along with a few other artists from the past). But VH has an identity and style all his own. I tell people all the time, if you like Prince then you owe it to yourself to check for VH. He plays a good guitar, and he covers so many genres of music (old school R&B, funk, '80s pop, rock, etc.). You will not be disappointed with him.

It also doesn't hurt that Prince can rock as hard as any of the bands you mentioned, if not harder.

Prince rocks harder than The Who?

      Wow.

Than The Who without Entwistle and Moon? You bet your azz.

Have you listened to all of "Endless Wire?" It's a very good record, but it never will be mistaken for "Who's Next" or "Live at Leeds" in terms of sheer power.

Plus note that I said "can." Just watch Prince ripping through that solo from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony or listen to some live bootleg tracks, and you'll realize the guy can absolute shred an ax.

        Take care,

C'mon now. Townshend rocks harder than Prince all by himself, even at his advanced age. But I guess the joint really starts to rock when Prince ratchets up his falsetto and shakes his hiney around in those backless pants. Woo woo!!

And yes, I have listened to Endless Wire. I also saw The Who back during their Quadrophenia tour a few years ago, with Entwistle but without Moon (obviously). They were still bringing it and I'm sure they can still toss up a rousing version of "Won't Get Fooled Again." Which, btw, "rocks" more than any song Prince could ever write.

Re: Prince To Perform @ Halftime During The Superbowl

I love The Who. Saw them on their "first" farewell tour in 1982, and it was an incredibly powerful show.

But it's not my problem if you can't see past the costumes for the music of Prince.

I suppose you think Mick Jagger is a homo who doesn't rock, either. After all, just look at these outfits:

Two more Prince guitar solos worth watching:

I saw the Who in 87 with the Tommy musical to begin the show. This is when Pete lost his hearing and had to play accustic the whole show. They were still loud and good.

However, the songs Prince wrote on Purple Rain outsold anything the Who and Pete ever wrote. So, I would definately agree Prince sells to a wide audiance.

Have you heard 3121? If you have, how is it? Or anyone else? I have Musicology, that has a lot of R&B, soul and funk. If it's decent, I'll pick it up.

Agree. It's not as funky as "Musicology." "3121" also doesn't compare to his early to mid-80s output.

But the record is continuation of the return to form started by "Musicology," which is cool.
