Take a vitamin B complex before bed and drink some water. Shower in the morning helps too!
This seems to work for me.

so does drinking better liqour. I've never once had a hangover from all the countless nights I guzzled name brand vodka. Rum and whiskey still get me though.

                Re: Hangover cures?

nice thread. brings back memories of college. not many years removed (3) but i've heard and seen stories just like some of you.

I had a roommate of mine who is extremely overweight (5'6 300 pounds at least). He's of Korean descent and looks like a sumo wrestler. anyway, he claimed he was a big drinker back in Ohio where he used to live, but the guy never came out and drank with us. So on his 21st birthday, we went from bar to bar (basically a college town with bars everywhere) and said it was his 21st birthday. of course we bought him a bunch of shots as well. we get back to teh apartment and this dude can't get up the stairs! usually you can just drag and carry somebody but he was huge! we were drunk too so the two of us are basically pulling him up with two hands on each of his hands. We lived in this college apartment complex and so people are still up at 2 am. anyway, my buddy starts belching and throwing up in the toilet. nothing would come out after a while but he just kept belching and belching. the guy wouldn't stop. this went on for like 2 hours at least. finally at around 5 or so, i wake up to take a leak and the dude has his face looking straight down at the toilet passed out. he hadn't even pulled himself enough to lay on the ground. it was hilarious the next day. This was during finals week and he was supposed to take an 8am final. he was able to use the birthday excuse and was able to take it the following day, but man that was a memorable and crazy night.

there was an alcohol blower type machine at the bar and he registered a .235 alcohol level. i was trying to give this dude water but he would just down 151 like nothing. hilarious at the tiime but looking back at it, the dude could've seriously had something wrong happen to him.

i think the best method to not have a hangover is crown and coke. crown royal just doesn't get you hung over. with bacardi or other rum it's different but crown works for me. i wasn't a big fan of it at first because of it's cost and i preferred bacardi and coke more, but i've crown to like it the best out of everything. Brandy and coke i just recently started on and it packs a punch with alcohol content while tasting good as well.

if not that, then water always works but probably #1 idea is to simply throw up. obviously you want to do it where nobody knows you are doing it but its the best solution. then drinking a cup of water gets the job done.

I've tried the "chaser" pills before, and they kind of work. I still felt crappy the next day, but maybe not as bad as I could have been. The older I get though, the worse the hangovers are. Some good stories though. I also drink tons of water, sleep, and eat greasy food to try to get past it.

Poetic, but you do know that in medical terms, a tincture is a solution of something (like Iodine) and alcohol, right?

                          Re: Hangover cures?

On another note, there are some theories on what causes a hangover.

                          1) Methanol impurities (in cheap alcohol). When you ingest alcohols, your liver oxidizes them to the corresponding aldehyde. Thus, ethanol ---> ethanal and methanol (not supposed to be in ethanolic drinks, but trace amounts are in less expensive brands of liquor) ---> formaldehyde. That trace amount, many think, is enough to make you feel terrible. Solution? Drink top shelf. They distilled are many times more and don't contain methanol like the lesser-priced drinks. Since that's not a possibility for most of us..

                          2) Stay hydrated and keep your blood (brain) sugars up. It is also supposed that hangovers are caused by dehydration and sugar loss, mainly in the brain. To stave off a hangover, drink some water before bed and eat something with a good amount of sugar. By sugar, in this sense, we really mean any carbohydrate, not just glucose.

Ah, I didn't read this post. You now know why Crown Royal doesn't get you hung over like Bacardi does.

which is why I said don't drink cheap vodka. The top shelf, or even middle shelf stuff is designed to be more pure.

however, it's funny that ABC stores are telling people that pinnacle voda is the no name brand of grey goose, and that they are the same to get people to buy it. Hilariously false.

That explains why I can drink 12 Newcastles and feel fine the next day, but drink 12 High Life's and feel like **** the entire next day.
