Untrue. People just buy into it because Tressel guaranteed a win in 2001 at Michigan and got it done. Impressive, but overrated. Credit to Tressel for having the best player in the history of the OSU-UM rivalry, but that does not mean Tressel "owns" Michigan. It means Troy Smith does.
Yeah, I mean it's not like Tressel had anything to do with Troy Smith's development.

      He's 5-1 including beating a 9-1 Michigan team with a 6-4 OSU team. That's ownage.

Lloyd Carr is a great coach but the record really is hard to argue against. And without Tressel I have my doubts Troy Smith would be near the level he is today.

          Uh...Tressel is 5-1 vs Michigan.

I know it's easier for you to believe it's Troy because he graduates and Tressel does not but it's Tressel. However if it's any consolation as a Buckeye fan I will agree with you that I don't think Tressel owns Lloyd, I just think things have fallen our way for awhile and Tressel is certainly a great coach. The truth is though that if Carr is around the next 5 years or so the tide could easily turn. It's not about anyone "owning" anyone IMO, it's more about year to year success.

The most Buckner could've possibly done was keep it on the infield and have runners on the corners in a tie game. That error is the single most overrated play, in terms of importance, in sports history.
Stanley throwing the wild pitch before the ground ball is a great point. Everyone forgets that part. Plus, wasn't there talk that Stanley actually crossed up Gedman on the wild pitch, who set up on the other side of the plate? Just brutal.

Depends on which tape you are referring to.

If you are referring to the footage that has been around since the 70's, which is rather inconclusive in showing just what Ruth was pointing at, then it's possible. This is the footage that has become quite infamous, the one included in Ken Burns' Baseball series and other such documentaries on Ruth or the Shot. If anything, in this video, it could simply be said that he was pointing towards Charlie Root, the pitcher if anything.

If you are referring to the footage which came out about five years ago, then you are contradicting yourself. In that footage, it is nearly universally agree upon by those who have seen it that Ruth was pointing towards the Cubs dugout, and nowhere near centerfield.

Baseball is America's sport...The only truth is that it was in fact the national pastime sport, but today Baseball's popularity has been surpased in many regions of the world, but back home it has taken a backseat to NFL.

I believe i'm referring to the footage which has been around since the 70's but not entirely sure. However I'm entirely sure that the Babe points to the right field, where the homerun goes, in said footage. Maybe he got lucky but he was NOT pointing at the pitcher and he was not pointing at the Cubs dugout.

Yep the older 1970s footage is a bit inconclusive. I haven't seen the footage that was unearthed five years ago but i've seen the photos and to me he didn't call his "shot".

Sorry to sort of break up this event, but does anyone not remember the incident where Carl Everett was plunked by a Mariners pitcher (I believe it might have been Jeff Fassero or somebody), and after losing cool and blowing steam, at first base he pretty much called his shot his next AB. His next AB, he hit an opposite field homer over the Green Monster, and flipped off Fassero (or whoever the pitcher was) when he crossed home plate.

Now that's calling your shot... though nobody seems to remember that.
