Head to the link above for the lowdown and a picture of the new look. I remember collecting Archie comics when I was a kid and I have to ask - what's the point of this? Part of what makes something like Archie timeless is the fact that it hasn't changed over the years. It's like going to Disneyworld. Sure a lot of the rides there haven't changed in years or kept up with the latest technology, but that's what gives them their timeless charm. Nobody wants to go and see modernized versions of their favorite rides just because that makes them "contemporary."
Why bother reinventing something like Archie? You're only going to make its longtime fans hate the new look, while still not appealing to the younger demographic who want something more current and hip. It's dumb. It makes me sound old, but I wish some things could just be left alone instead of "modernized" like this. Create something new if you want to go in another marketing direction, but don't ruin what's already timeless and successful.
