I'm actually reading that right now, guess I haven't gotten to that point in the story yet because Johnny/Human Lighter is still a white guy.

He can turn his body into fire but I simply cannot believe that a white character will now be played by a great actor who happens to be black. I will suspend my disbelief for many things but that is not one of them. For shame, Marvel.

They did that with The Rock in a bunch of his earlier movies and it would be hilarious if they did it with this, especially with how angry people get over it. In fact, they should make Sue and Johnny's parents be Asian and Puerto Rican just to keep ****ing with people.

Movies and suspension of disbelief has always been weird and as movies strive to recreate things as "realistically" as they possibly can they lose their mysticism which makes them so entertaining and magical in the first place. Considering its roots trace back to days when only men acted (still had female roles, though) it seems silly to me that physical appearance can trump artistic performance.

Its like them taking Black Panther and making him white, Batman Black, Martian Manhunter purple, etc.

They change stuff about lore all the time, especially in movie adaptations. Is Johnny Storm being a white guy central to the character? The reason so many of these comic-book characters are white is because of the time period in which they were created; there isn't anything that gets compromised by having a black actor play him in the movie, unless there's some old storyline I never saw where the Fantastic Four had to go back in time and pretend to be Aryans.

Changing Batman to be a black man wouldn't have any affect on the lore whatsoever.

It shouldn't really be a problem at all. Sue and Johnny have interracial parents? Awesome.
