Re: Wow
Even if the U.S. were to forbid residents from going to Dubai, Dubai would generate plenty of income from the Asian and European tourists that would just love to go there. Dubai is closer in proximity to much of the world then the United States is, and as it appears, it will have a lot more to offer then the U.S. will too. Unlike the U.S., the rest of the world isn't worried about being attacked by terrorists every time they set foot outside of their own country. I seriously doubt that the creators of this project in Dubai are as worried about American tourists as much as we think they are.
England and the Rest of Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain are probably the only european nations where some of its residents might be able to afford Dubai... the other nations I dont see going there because they are not as rich AND because, while they dont have what Dubai will, if they want to see a tower could go to Paris, if they want to see beautiful beaches, could go to Barcelona, Portugal, Greece... Dubai is catered to the uber rich, not middle class. I remember reading about Dubai about 2 years ago and its VERY expensive...
i see most of the business coming from N. America and Asia right now, but we'll soon see...
as for the terrorism, england and spain are up there in terms of terrorism...PSN: Peji911Comment

Re: Wow
I dunno, you're probably right in a sense. Just last month a representative of Dubai was in Toronto for an investment thing. It seems the Dubai government is trying to get direct foreign investment for construction, residential and business complexes etc etc.
As for the links to Terrorism, I don't doubt that there is some of that. I however, don't think the government of Dubai actually encourages it but the way things are set up there. (no taxation) the ability to funnel funds between terrorist groups is quite doable and easy.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Yeah, like someone else said, this is not what I pictured when thinking of Dubai. No wonder Tiger goes to play in that golf tournament over there every year (I'm sure the appearance fee they give him helps too). It's also no wonder that he's building his first golf course over there as well.Comment
