Saw IV could be the best movie ever made. But, as a die-hard Saw fan, I've done my research... and when a title goes past one movie, I begin look into the franchise as a whole before the individual movies themselves. That said, after having done research on the past movies, on past trilogies, on future possibilities for Saw IV, etc... I still have not yet come up with one way that Saw IV (again, no matter how good it is) can benefit the franchise. I can, however, come up with hundreds of ways that it can hurt the franchise. And that is the main issue at hand.

As much as we keep on thinking crap, maybe they might surprise us with something good.

          Re: SAW IV Discussion

Again, Saw IV could be the best movie of all time. But so far, as far as I have considered every scenario that Saw IV would go, I can't find a way where it benefits the series at all one bit (and as a matter of fact it may demoralize at least one of the previous installments, especially Saw III). Saw III's quality is in its power to ending a trilogy IMO. To be honest with you, I would agree with EG on most accounts with Saw III if it was just another sequel that was built to have yet another sequel following it. The only other difference is that he never quite wanted this sequel to happen in the first place. However, in my mind, Saw III has so much power when focusing on Death and the end, that I think their direction was perfect in terms of ending it at a trilogy.

But making a fourth one is just a smack in the face to the third one, and making the fourth one can ultimately make the third one look like utter crap, for two reasons: 1) They may bring someone "back from the dead" that we never wanted back (that they focused so much time on killing); 2) With everything that they focused on in Saw III, like #1, they could have done so much more with the movie if they decide to now veto any choice that they previously made.

So, my thoughts are sort of mixed and out there, and I'm sometimes a lot about "power" over plot, but hey... whatever floats my boat, right? Unfortunately, Saw IV doesn't fit in here.

Saw III was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Saw IV is definitely on my "not even going to watch the trailer" list.

I'll still watch it. I won't be as excited, but I will watch it.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

jmood, this movie especially. I think not only Blzer has read too much into it, but many of us also have.

Why is everyone surprised they are making a fourth one? I thought I read around the time that the first or second one came out that they wanted/had a deal to make 4 or 6 movies.
