LOL at the person that said some of Kellie Pickler's songs were too country. She is a Country singer.

You can't deny a lot of American Idol singers have had success on the sales charts.

    (American sale numbers only)

Kelly Clarkson - Thankful (2.5 million)
Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway (5.6 million)

Ruben Studdard - Soulful (1.8 million)

Clay Aiken - Measure Of A Man (2.8 million)
Clay Aiken - Merry Christmas With Love (1.3 million)

Carrie Underwood - Some Hearts (4.8 million)

The first Fantasia album went platinum.

I expect the Taylor Hicks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, and Daughtry albums to eventually hit platinum status.

Back to get back on Carrie Underwood, I found the Wasted video:

I think she's going to start planning her next album soon. I'm sure we will see it before Christmas. I've also noticed unlike Kelly Clarkson, Carrie isn't trying her best to distance herself from American Idol.

The difference is Carrie Underwood is getting marketed and pushed harder than any of the others, you don't hear anything about Ruben anymore or Fantasia, but you still hear a lot about Kelly Clarkson and Carrie, that's what money behind a star will do for them especially when it comes from Clive Davis, who is not backing the others.
Well, I knew someone would use the Mary J. Blige argument and I agree that it's difficult to say otherwise, but my opinion is that you're talking about one artist.

Mary J. Blige is a special type of R&B. She is considered the best female vocalist in the genre. She is Mary J. before she is an R&B singer.

That's not the case for many R&B types. But, your point is valid and as I said before, it's difficult to argue otherwise.
