Ali MacGraw for just being nominated.
I'll go with Whoopi Goldberg for "Ghost". It's hard to belive that Angela Jolie won an Oscar, but her performance in "Girl Interrupted" wasn't bad-that was when Winona Ryder actually had a career.

It would be easy for me to say that this fine thing can't act, but she pulled out all the stops in "Monster Ball".

That was a great scene and film. About as close we'll get to seeing Halle in a porn flick.

I'll second the Whoopi Goldberg vote. Jolie and Tomei are close seconds, although I at least really liked Tomei in My Cousin Vinny.

It's also hard to believe that Goldie Hawn has an Oscar....

I like the idea of Cuba though. His career has gone straight down the toilet.

Re: The WORST Actors/Actresses to Win An Oscar

I think Cuba did a good job in Jerry Maguire. It was a great character, that he made even better.

Gwenyth Paltrow would be my vote for worst actress to win an Oscar. She sort of falls in the category of actors and actresses that get that somehow get the hype of being great, but are really just average.

Re: The WORST Actors/Actresses to Win An Oscar

Halle Berry, only because I think it was political. I hate that about the Oscars. Look at 'Lord of the Rings'. FOTR was the best film, but lost because it was "Ron Howard's time". Then it wins against quality competition because the Academy had to honor the franchise and the technical achievement.

I could go after the many Supporting Actor/Actress winners as well, only because some are nominated for something like five minutes, or conversely they have the most screen time but aren't the headlining star (and thus get eliminated from "Best" competition).

Political? Halle Berry? LOL! Are you serious? I could see that with Al Gore or Michael Moore winning but Haller Berry?

I think he meant political in the Hollywood sense, not the Politics sense.

That's what I got from the rest of that post, at least. I could very easily be wrong.

I wouldnt say politcal, but I didnt think her performance was worthy of a nomination. Cuba's performance in Jerry Maguire was amazing. His career hasnt been that great since then, but that performance was great. Another guy who should'nt have gotten nominated a few years back is Clint Eastwood for lead Male in Million Dollar Baby. I thought that was ridiculous.
