This is a terrible, dangerous film that could screw a lot of simple minded, easily-swayed people into doing dumb things...

It's an absolute shame that people believe this sort of **** - and even posts links to it in an attempt to get others to watch it.

personally, I think the thread should be deleted entirely.

I will label this with the girl from my undergrad sociology class who said AIDS/HIV was a disease created by the government to eradicate homosexuality.

That would not surprise me actually.

I agree with the above poster. This type of film and message is dangerous and ultimately hurts the patient, his/her family, and anyone who comes into contact with the patient (sexual partners, drug users sharing needles, etc.).

I'm in medical school and have helped treat many patients with HIV/AIDS. I've seen what HIV can do, especially when patients are non-compliant with their treatment regimen. Many people with HIV do not take their HAART meds because of financial and social pressures. This is bad for obvious reasons, but it also leads to HIV resistance against these medications. A movie with a message like this could lead to non-compliance and failure of treatment.

Also, the drugs currently used attack HIV and have had great success. When Magic revealed he had HIV, the life expectancy after contracting HIV/AIDS was 5-10 years. Today it is 25 years. And that's because of the drugs.

To say that nobody makes drugs to cure AIDS is ridiculous. AIDS is what happens after HIV destroys a person's immune system. People don't really die "of AIDS". They die of other infections that their body can no longer fight against. In that respect, people are treated "for AIDS" based on the common opportunistic infections that people get when their condition gets worse.

I think if we want to have a discussion about this here, it would be helpful if you wrote down the key points made in the movie. 2 hours is a long time. I'd rather play some xbox!
