    olevia tv hookup...

Just the other night I bought a Olevia 32" HDTV, and when I hook up my dvd player to it, then turn it on I get a gray picture or a pink tone picture. What am i hooking up wrong? Right now I have a Standard TV hooked up to the TV, until I get my HD box.

    Thanks

Truth, are you sure that your hooking up the cables from the DVD to TV with the right colors? What kinds of cables are you using? (HDMI, Component, SVideo, or Composite)

The cables are red, white and yellow ones. I have tried connecting to composite and component.

      When connected like this:
DVD composite to TV Component = gray picture
DVD component to TV component = pink picture

So, I should go out and get the red, green, blue component cables??...so the composite cables into the component could be the problem??

Yes, the Component Cables are better cables to enable progressive scan for your DVD player. It will give you 480p on the DVD movies, it makes a difference.

Ok but, will it get rid of this pink/red color or the gray color? will it give me my picture back like normal tv?

I'm guessing that you might have a bad set of cables that your getting pink/red color or that, please don't take this the wrong way, but you might have the colors mixed up. I've done that before and it has caused colors not to show up or all blue or all red.

Nope, your plugging composite cables into component inputs. It's not going to work since their a different type of cable. Your Olevia should have composite inputs right by the components.

It only has one set of composite cable outputs and thats where the TV is hooked up to the DVR...so then I the component section open..

Ok, so that means that you must buy Component Cables. The composites your using will not work.

As candyman said, you can't use composite cables for component inputs. You must buy the component cables.
