Can't believe Depp is doing a third one and he is saying this. I miss the days when Depp was actually picky about his role his talents are being wasted on this franchise.-JoshComment

I thought Rush Hour 2 was as good as the first, if not better. I can't wait for part 3.

 His talents are being wasted?

I'm sorry, but this movie is incredibly popular, he is the STAR of the movie, everyone knows who Captain jack Sparrow is...and everyone recognizes how incredibly he talented he is because he can pull off this role amazingly.

Don't see how that is being "wasted."Comment

Yeah...that is what I meant by "incredibly popular"

Didn't have the stats or facts to back it up, but I know the first two have generated quite a bit of money.

It's nice to see an actor finally embrace a role that he is amazing at. You can say his "talent is being wasted" but I think that is the furthest thing from the truth in relation to this series.Comment

Got you on the stats... Pirates of The Caribbean Dead Man's Chest is the 6th highest grossing domestic film of all time... all time. Not to mention 3 on the worldwide list... only behind Titanic and LOTR: ROTK. At $423 million state side and over $600 million world wide, we're talking about a movie that made over $1 BILLION dollars. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/...caribbean2.htmYeah...that is what I meant by "incredibly popular"

Coupled with the fact that Depp received an best actor oscar nomination for the first picture and I would have to say Depp has plenty of reasons to be a fan of continuing the character and the series.http://flotn.blogspot.com

 Thanks.

It's refreshing to see an actor who realizes the majority of the public is in love with the movies, and his character especially, and wants to continue making them as long as they're good and people like them.Comment

I agree Depp can pull it off of course. Depp can do just about anything amazingly when it comes to acting. I would much rather see him embrace a different role in a different film not some Hollywood moneymaker.Yeah...that is what I meant by "incredibly popular"

Fyi never does incredibly popular or a movie that generates a quite a bit of money = good film. I did think Pirates 2 was better than first but that’s not saying much. To me he is wasting his time I would much rather see him do something else. I think mostly he keeps doing Pirates for his kid(s) which is at least a good reason but come on Johnny. He is probably the greatest character actor of my generation yet he keeps strapping on his pirate gear.-JoshComment

I know popularity and a money-making movie doesn't mean a good film, but to me both of these have been good films...and why? Mainly because Depp is one of the best actors in recent memory.I agree Depp can pull it off of course. Depp can do just about anything amazingly when it comes to acting. I would much rather see him embrace a different role in a different film not some Hollywood moneymaker.

His kid is one reason he does it, but he's also stated many times that he enjoys the role. He's not doing it because of the money he makes, though I'm sure that doesn't hurt, but he actually enjoys the role of Jack Sparrow. Like I said...it's refreshing to see an actor stick with something they enjoy instead of worrying about "Well, I don't want people to see me as Jack Sparrow for the rest of my life..." or making more money on something else.

Guess we'll just...agree to disagree on the idea that he is wasting his time/talent on this series.Comment

What is so bad about being seen as Jack Sparrow for the rest of your life. Jack Sparrow is a very cool character, and in my opinion, the POTC movies are some of the best I have ever seen.Comment

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End trailer!

He's saying that he's glad that Depp isn't saying that. It's like with Tobey Maguire and Spiderman, he doesn't want to do anymore movies because he doesn't want to be seen as spiderman, even though the movies have been great and he's making more money than he ever could without the franchise.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
