Re: Opie and Anthony suspended from XM

sorry if they are fired XM is as good as done... I can live without the radio broadcasts of baseball games.. Yes the bit was offensive, but what do people expect from the "shock jock" genre? I am biting my lip atm for I do not want to cross any boundries here at OS.. Of course, there is one party involved in the mess who shouldn't be, & gets away with saying all sorts of insulting stuff...

I already know of a ton of people about to cancel their XM if the firing is true...

I like them, but I'd REALLY be pissed if it were Ron and Fezz. Stern is untouchable and smart enough to know when to back down.
Stern may be smart, but this would be like if Jeff the Drunk said some crazy stuff( as usual) and Stern got fired for it

I think it's hilarious that people would actually drop a service in protest of two shock-jocks... plus if you're paying 13 bucks a month just to listen to one show... then I don't know what to tell ya.

Just because you wouldn't do it doesn't mean others wouldn't. Isles and EG are probably two of the biggest O&A fans I've ever met and they're rightly upset about it. I don't blame Isles at all for cancelling his sub as I'm probably gonna cancel mine as well just to stand up to XM. As far as the money goes, I'd pay 20 bucks a month for Stern and Bubba if it came to that. To me Stern, O&A, Bubba, Ron and Fez and the others are easily worth the fees every month. The way I see it, I was 13 bucks a month on nonsense, so it's well worth it to be entertained in the morning.

I like Bubba, but his show is awful. He seems like a cool guy, but I can't get into the show at all.

I hate when people ride around on high horses criticizing people for how they spend their money. IMO, 13 bucks a month is a drop in the bucket for as often as i listen to my satellite radio.

Soccer/NFL(awesome on the way home from Giants games)/Stern/Comedy...

I would hate to go back to two for Tuesday bullcrap...

I paid $13 to listen to a lot of stuff on XM, initially . . . but after a while I realized that the music channels were weak, the comedy channels were a serious mixed bag, the news and talk channels didn't really up the ante beyond commercial news and talk . . . .so, I was left with O&A (who suck when they are off, but give you some of the greatest radio you've ever heard when they are on their games), R& F (eh . . .OK, but not great), and sports (admittedly, I enjoy the XM sports selection, particuliarly Home Ice).

If I wasn't personally offended by the O&A suspension, I would definitely keep XM. However, I think that now is a time to take a stand. XM has stabbed its customers in the back, by promoting a "high voltage" or "virus" channel with no rules, and then all of a sudden taking O&A away when they expressed some mild dissatisfaction with XM management. Bad move. XM lines have been jammed all day, and I do believe that these are not new subscribers signing up.

I'm still thinking about it, but I may just cancel prior to the firing becomes official. And I will certainly chuckle when the stock price takes a hit at the droves of cancellations that are already occurring.

I like him pretty good, but he's no Howard. Howard Stern is by far my favorite, followed by O&A then Ron and Fez and then Bubba. Bubba is an acquired taste IMO. I really only listen to him on the drive home from work and in short spells, he's great. I got Sirius for Soccer/Football/Stern and bought XM for O&A/Baseball. Both services are well worth the 26 bucks monthly.

ROFL!! call their customer service # & a message comes on that "all reps are busy as people are ADDING service"... XM will be in some trouble come tomorrow as it's already being said a lot of subscribers are cancelling in support of O & A.. At the moment, I have cancelled mine, not just in support, but for other "reasons" as well... If & when they come back, I will as well.

What was aired on regular radio this morning in O&A's spot? Ron and Fez replays were on XM (which sometimes Ron and Fez are compeltely hilarious by the way).

After a night of thinking about it, if they are fired, I'll be jumping to Sirius. Ijun is right about this, I didn't pay for censorship of a pay service, I paid to hear stuff like that. Yes, it really crossed the line, but if you don't like, don't listen. There's no FCC guidelines here. I've heard worse stuff on HBO comedy specials and what not.

That would actually be my gain, but apples/oranges

I'm more all talk, I doubt I'll leave XM, I love their music and sports too much. The lack of baseball would kill me.

they have been trying to issue 3 months free, suspending accounts till they come back, etc... no one is taking it.. Made Fox News last night as they said XM phone were jammed all night.. I sent an email to XM explaining my stance in the whole matter (& yes, I agree with what started the mess was wrong).

& once again, it's not just about what was said.. like Imus's firing, it has to do with the money factor (Imus's case it was about the loss of sponsors- O & A's case it is about the pending merger talks)..
