The only way this is going to work is if the prosecutor can find other disgruntled parents and especially those who's kids were injured under this coach's watch. Otherwise, what evidence is there? Does she have film of his practice techniques? This coach would be wise to gain all the character support he can find. Having coached all those kids all those years (and if he has been a stand up guy) that shouldn't be hard to do. This is going to fall apart due to lack of evidence. The thing I hate is that he'll have to put up all the lawyer bucks for his defense. I wouldn't doubt a counter-suit is in the making for character defamation.

one time my brothers coach decided to teach kids how to get hit by pitches and not get hurt... he threw them curveballs but he hit each kid... So come playoff game time, one of the scrubs moms told on the coach and he was kicked out of the league for life. That's one of the only times I could see a suit actually working cause he could have caused bodily injury... I'm guessing the kid in this case was excited and forgot what he was taught... I don't think there is anyway this suit holds up.

That's exactly the biggest problem. It's starting to become a nuisance to be a coach because you're just worried about being sued. So, now, we are going to start losing coaches and teachers. It's a big mess.

I think that is common practice. We did it at my school. If anything it actually protects the hitter to go through practice like this. Teaches them to turn away from the ball and get hit in the arm rrather than turn into it and get hit in the face.

Im 99% sure i knew how to slide before I left T-ball. At any rate Im kind of suprised that there was no release form that had to be signed when you registered for the league, Im pretty sure my dad signed one when I was playing Little League like 10 years ago

I would assume that the parent did not file a lawsuite 3 years ago since "Friday Night Lights" wasn't on back then.

Blzer come on! That's a f'ing joke! I was never taught how to slide... it's common sense. Sounds like this kid shouldn't have even been near a baseball field. The article states that this happened on his "first" hit of the season. Unless it was the first game of the season, this kid couldn't hit either.

I feel bad for the kid, but I knew how to f'ing slide into a base and noone ever taught me.

That bitch coulda turned on a tv and had her son watch any MLB'er and know how to slide.

Just another reason why we need England's way of dealing with lawsuits. If you lose the case, you pay what you sue for.
