If there is no concern for media then there is no point to getting anything other than the 8gb.

I have over 40 apps on my phone and they take up about 400 MB. We're talking utilities and productive apps, not games.

When the phone becomes a gaming device to you, then space may be an issue. If you want to get the phone and plan on gaming heavily on it, then the 16GB might suit you better. Like I posted previously the apps have an extremely small footprint.

AIM (Free Edition), Blackjack Free, Facebook, Fieldrunners, GasBag, Last.fm, Mint.com, Now Playing, PhoneFlix - Netflix for the iPhone, QuickTip Tip Calculator, Remote

I have more that I've downloaded, but I found myself not using them enough to justify them taking up space, so I don't sync them.

Free RSS
Evernote - save pics as notes
Darkroom - take better pics
Sportacular
YPmobile, Yelp, Urbanspoon - all similar apps to find restaurants etc nearby
Snaptell - take a pic of a book cover and get the amazon price
Amazon
Accuweather
photobucket
Twitterific
IM+ Lite

I got the 16g Ipod Touch a couple weeks back and I do really enjoy it. My question for those more techy savvy than I...my battery drains really fast. And I don't watch much video, or get on the net. Like today I started out with a fully charged battery. Listened to an audio podcast for around 2-2 and 1/2 hours. Got on the net for around 5 minutes, showed some people some photos for around 5-10 minutes. And right now I am just over half a charge? At this point I don't want to watch any videos on it as it seems it will only last an hour or so. Ya, ya...I know this is technically an Iphone thread, but this tech seems close enough to have someone here know the answer. My old Ipod (pre-nano days) I could easily go 3 days of 2 to 3 hours of listening without having to charge. Thanks for the help.

for some odd reason the battery doesn't always give you an accurate reading of your device.

Don't worry about it too much.
