I just want to see what the difference is between the 3Gs and the next one they toss out. I have to say that I'm more excited about the iPhone now than I have been since I purchased it. Only crappy thing is my phone is acting up everyday it seems.

They will get the update. They won't get all the features, namely the big one - multi-tasking.

Apple has always worked this way with their iPods. They're doing the same thing here - making you upgrade.

It should be noted, however, the 3G's (not 3GS) hardware can't keep up with the demand the OS would put on it. The RAM is gimped. Processor too slow.

People would complain their device became unusable. Think Windows XP on a machine with 512MB of RAM. Yeah, it works. Looks like it works fine... until you open a web browser. Then the fun begins.

As long as there is a hardware issue and not taking advantage of their customers. I thought jailbroken iphones could already multi-task.

They can, but it's not 100% smooth and doesn't compare to what was displayed yesterday. You're really pushing the limits of the 3G when you multi-task. The 3GS does this effortlessly.

In fairness to apple there machines run smooth.

LOL years ago I had a Windows XP with 256mb of RAM and a Pentium 4 1.6ghz processor. Back then I thought I was the shiznite LMAO.

I hope they change the look of the phone itself. Pretty bland looking now compared to other phones.

I doubt that will ever change...........that is the one reason I am not a fan of Iphone, you can't change the look of anything on it. I new look or color or something is definitely needed.

Iphone reminds me of a grandparent that is set in their ways.

I don't see why they would need to change the look? Why? The entire phone is essentially a screen anyway, and that screen is better than any other companies out there. What needs to be different? If they want to change the look of the OS then sure, but the phone is perfect the way it is.

And a grandpa stuck in his ways? Really? Lol, the phone has only been out since 07...

Now you're just being silly. Everyone's grandpa is 3 years old.

It's about brand recognition. There is none with all these other phone. When you see some phones in public, you typically think, "What phone is that?"

But when you see an iPhone, you know it's an iPhone.

You don't just throw stuff like that away.

actually there a several phones out there with a better screen (one example is the droid. Bigger screen and more pixels). Apples touch screen works better than any of the rest though. Either way, Apple likes to stay ahead of the competition so I expect them to have a big improvement over the 3gs. The first 2g was pretty fugly. when the 3g came out they made it look 10x better. Of course it will not be anything drastic, but they need to change it. Hopefully they have a decent camera too. Other phones are coming out with 8mp cameras.

When I got my iPhone from work, I had the choice of the droid. Hated the feel of the screen compared to the Apple. Purely personal choice obviously, but for a touch interface, the iPod, imo has no peer.

I know I am in the minority, but I had the Droid for a couple of days to test out, before I had to make my decision, and was less than enthused about it. Made choosing the iPhone that much easier.
