Apple just approved my new iPhone 4 app, LED iLight for iPhone 4. Turns the rear LED into a flashlight.

Help an old OS'er out with a download and a review. I've already submitted an update with the following fixes:

-FIXED: Removed camera shutter animation from app.
-NEW: Improved User Interface!
-NEW: LED automatically turned on when app is launched. No need to even press the button!
-NEW: Swipe Anywhere/Tap Anywhere to toggle the LED. No need to even be looking at the screen!
-NEW: Support for background audio. Several flashlight apps do not support background audio playing. This one does! Now you are able to use the flashlight during those late night jogging sessions!
-NEW: Added the status bar to the app. Now you can know exactly how much battery you have left while using the flashlight
-NEW: Statistic Tracking! Now you can know exactly how long you have used the LED as a flashlight!

I'm hoping to find some more time to chat with you guys more this fall. I've been missing OS.

So you're the one that made a crapload of money on the first day of using iAds for the led flashlight? If so, that's so awesome.

Just ordered my iPhone 4. It says 3 weeks before it ships though, which is a bummer but I'm in no hurry to get it.

But I will definitely be checking out dagger55's flashlight app he made.

It's crazy... Consumer Reports just gave the 4 a "can't recommend" yet the phone is still selling.

Society is odd... so many people say they care about things like this, yet, they still buy things.

I really don't understand the big deal with the antenna issue. Maybe it's causing folks to drop calls when they hold the phone a certain way, I don't know. I've been using my iphone4 like any other cell phone I've ever had and haven't had a problem yet. No dropped calls, no slow data to the point where I notice anything.

I just don't understand the big deal.

Can you imagine the backlash Nintendo would face today if you had to blow in your cartridges?

Like I said when you first got the phone and as you can see after some time using it, through normal use the phone is fine. It's like someone damning a microwave because you can't put aluminum foil in there...

You may not be experiencing problems but there is documented proof that there is an antenna issue. The biggest issue is Apple has not acknowledged it to this point. Apple also was deleting the Consumer Reports article from its forums. If this were any other company, there would be outrage.

Apple has acknowledged it... and they're putting out a software update to fix it.

See what I mean fish?

SoMiss, have you actually used the phone? Forget what you've seen on YouTube - have you used an iPhone yourself like you do any other phone?

There is also documented proof this same thing effects other phones. Nokia created an ad poking fun at the issue yet deleted the comments off their blog in how this effects phones they have released as well.

It's fodder for discussion, nothing more.

Let's be real here Bruins, a software fix isn't going to make THAT much of a difference.

Forget what I've seen on youtube? C'mon now Pared. Fact of the matter is there are enough of the issues being reported. People are allowed to return it with no restocking fee. I do agree with you, no software update is going to fix it. Only thing that will is once they are done hiring those antenna engineers that they were looking for on their site to submit a revision to the current model.

Like I said, I would probably be pissed if it was actually causing me to drop calls, but it's not. I haven't had any problems. Personally, I just think people like to complain about something. Like I did when I first got it.

That's just it SoMiss... it's no different from the guys that post stupid little rants on video games on YT. Play the game/use the phone then make up your mind.

The internet does more harm than good most of times. I can only say that I don't let things that others harp upon kill an experience for me. You have multiple individuals here (not just me) saying through normal usage this isn't a problem for them. Not really sure what else you can say to someone when they say, "but if you hold the phone this way and put your finger right here there's a problem."

Us as gamers keep dealing with badly designed 360's yet point fingers in other areas of electronics that have problems that plague them... that's hypocritical in my opinion. Mind you I was extremely pissed when my launch 360 died on me... but it only happened once. Hasn't been a problem since.

Yep, I too can replicate the signal fluctuation if I hold the phone in the "death grip". But I don't talk on the phone like that so why would I do it?

Right, but at least it will accurately display how many bars you have.

That said, I've said in the past and I'll say it again, everything works fine for me. I can't say it as well as you did, but I agree with you.

From what I see, the phone only drops calls when you hold it in a certain way. I've never once held my 3GS iPhone that way, and I doubt I'll hold my iPhone 4 from the bottom edges.

The problem can be solved within you own hands, don't hold the phone there. I don't know many people who do, unless they are just trying to make the iPhone look like it sucks.

Maybe SoMiss hasn't used one but I just got my iPhone 4 last week.

My typical use when using apps is to hold my phone in my left hand and poke with my right. I watched the signal drop to the very last drop every time I do this (on wifi, no problem since I'm on wifi). When I take my hand off the bottom left corner the signal creeps back up instantly. If I hold the phone by the sides symmetrically then the signal stays the same (no drop). I don't know if it will result in dropped calls but my data speeds were incredibly slow.

Also, I talked on the phone for almost an hour and this is what happened. My face hit the speaker button once and the FaceTime button twice. For some reason the proximity sensor seems less sensitive than it needs to be. I'm talking and holding the phone as I normally would have with any iPhone and I have the sweat on the screen to prove it.

Those are my two issues. I don't think the signal drop could be fixed with software at all. It definitely needs a hardware solution.
