I'm most interested in if they're gonna actually fix the phone or not going forward...Whether or not this issue has been blown out of proportion, it's kind of a big deal when Consumer Reports won't recommend you...

I personally don't like cases on my phone (these phones are big enough as they are, I don't need to add more bulk)...

I know you were joking Pared, but we shouldn't be required to use a case...

This has all been interesting though, Apple has to learn how to act now that they're the top dog instead of the underdog. Stuff you get away with as the underdog you can't when you're on top.

There are clear coverings that many companies sell that "solve" the "issue" as well. Phantom Skinz has a really nice one.

Yeah, that's what I'd do...

Bet Apple doesn't make this mistake again lol It's not too big a problem, but just the principle of the thing. Plus if they'd just done this announcement 2 weeks ago then people wouldn't be so hard on them. It was the attitude from Apple/Jobs, not the actual issue that annoyed everyone.

You are correct right there. Don't tell your customer that they're doing it wrong when it has been clearly documented.

Also I don't see how it's possible that they could tell how widespread the now confirmed issue is. I don't comment or frequent blogs to complain, yet I've had proximity and signal drop issues. How would they know I have a problem?

The remedy that they are proposing is a two edged sword for me. I think the form factor and physical design of the iPhone 4 is perfect. This is the first time that I don't want a case because of that. However, I don't want to shatter the phone if it drops to the ground and it's the only way to get around the signal issue.

Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple."
