One note, the password is alpine now, not dottie.

Oh and ignore step 5. Once you log in you should see two folders (Library, and Media I beleive). Navigate this way: Library -> SummerBoard -> Themes -> [Theme Name] -> Icons.

Now you can just drag those icon files to anywhere on your computer (Navigate using the left panel) . Edit them however you'd like, and then transfer (and overwrite) the ones on your iPhone. Once you're done, go into SMBPrefs and relaunch the Springboard. Ta da!

I notice that's for Mac's. Is there a PC version of that?

edit: Well just looking at step 1, it looks like there wouldn't be much difference.

The steps should be the same. Haven't used a PC in years so I'm not sure of a program. Can windows explorer (whatever opens folders locally) browse to web and IP addresses?

Either way, as long as you find an SFTP program (I'm sure there are tons for PC), the steps should translate over.

That's one reason I'm hesitant to run with an iPhone...I'd hate to have my phone tied in with something I want to tweak...

Along with the battery life issues it's enough to keep me away. I mentally can't tie my phone to my music/video/internet device. What happens when I watch a movie on a vacation and the battery's run down a lot? I can't watch a movie or 2 out of fear of not having a phone when I land?

IMO they just have to make a big leap or two in battery performance before we're totally there.

what exactly is the battery life? are we talking 2-4 hours or can u gete 8-10 on a full charge?

I don't have an iPhone...my concern is more involved with constantly playing music and movies...they use the battery more.

I've almost run out my iPod touch when I watched 3-4 hours of movies (maybe more, i forget), as well as some web surfing, etc. I just realized I like having my iPod separate from my phone, so I don't even have to worry. Phones die enough as it is if you're on the phone hours over multiple conversations

The iPod touch has great battery life and I'm happy...I guess I'm just paranoid/worried about using other features too much and then not having much phone talk time, you know?

That's a good point MGO... I struggle for battery life as it is with my phone.

I think if you just listen to music you're ok... but then what's the point of having video playback?

Either way, it's still cool to have a device that does everything well.

Oh, totally...and I think I'm overly paranoid, but just pointing out my concerns...

I've had a dvd playing on the drive home (not watching, but still on)...do that twice a day for my hour commute (or if you take a train to work, etc) and your battery goes down a bit...I could charge at work, etc, but just something that concerns me.

If you have the ability to charge at work, you have nothing to worry about. I get to work at 8 and leave at 5. Of those 9 hours, I would say I'm listening to music about 7 hours. If I just do music and answer a phone call or two, I still don't have to charge it until I go to bed. Now, if you watch an hour or two of video on the commute, I don't think you could make it on a single charge, but if you had a 2nd power cord at work, you would have no issues at all.

With all the jailbreak stuff going on, I've been messing with it a ton, all while music is playing and that runs down the battery a little bit more than usual, so I just plug it in for 30 minutes while I'm still listening to music and I'm generally good to go for the rest of the evening. If the battery is the only thing holding you back, I'd so go get ya one of these things. Changed the Weather and Clock icons, added an icon for FiveDice and moved it to my home screen, and hid Stocks because I'll rarely need it, if at all:

Did you install services like I told you? You have to make sure SSH is turned off as that drains the battery.

Also, make sure you quit programs you don't need as that saves a bit of juice as well.
