But Steve Jobs believes that WiFi is the future, and thats much better than 3G anyway....

He is banking that free WiFi will be available in a lot of areas very very soon.

As far as missing features, I am not sure what you are talking about. It has a lot of things that most phones dont, and next week at WWDC, Apple is expected to release a SDK to allow any developer to create applications for it.
I know next to nothing about cell phone technology, I'm just saying what I've read. People have been saying that it's missing things that's in other phones.

      Re: iPhone on June 29.

very much reminiscent of Jobs and the introduction of the iMac in 1998.

      -no floppy drive
      -only USB input support

People FREAKED out about it at the time (especially PC fanboys and many Mac zealots) and look at the market today. Floppy what? USB is everywhere as well.

Only time will tell on this one as well....

I want this phone, however I think I am going to wait for iPhone 2.0. Apple 2nd revisions are usually a lot better with most kinks worked out of the product. I bought an EnV back in December. I figure by December of 2008 this product will be available on verizon.

Personally I don't want my mp3 player tied into my phone, not until battery life gets a lot better. What if I'm playing music for a while and then end up with no battery when I need to use the phone? Sometimes I forget to plug in my phone at night, I'm not perfect in that respect.

The iPhone wont be on Verizon until 2012.

            5 Year deal for ATT

and you wont be able to hack it on Verizon because they use CDMA, while ATT doesnt.

what a bunch of hypocrites, considering all the features verizon cripples on their phones.

but back to the iphone, it sucks it doesn't have 3g. ill wait till one with 3g comes out. people should be wise and get a treo 750 or cingular 8525 instead of the iphone.

here is one of the first iphone applications released

its a shopping list for the grocery store, and you can check off items as you go through the store....

                      pretty nifty.

keep in mind that your mouse pointer will actually be your finger when using the iphone

                      EDIT:

                      iphone version of digg

                        Re: iPhone on June 29.

                        two weeks from launch...

rumors are beginning to surface that the iphone will not launch until 6PM in your local timezone...

I have certainly never heard of anything like that before....

Of course this prevents me from having to sit outside all night, and instead i can sit inside the store during the day....

I'm officially pumped for the launch of this phone.

I am doing a good job of resisting yet another lust for Apple's products. But I would love to stop carrying around my smartphone and ipod everyday.

It would be one fat expense though. Cancel/break contract on my 20% discounted Verizon's data plan package to pick up a $500 phone with a new non-discounted data plan package with AT&T--on a new contract!! LOL I must be crazy for thinking of doing this. But Apple does it every time. Always making things simpler for me.

Working for AT&T, I get a discount. I may just drop Nextel.
