Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
I would like to add a custom ringtone as well, but I don't understand the
.m4a. change and then the .m4r. change.
If you could explain it like you were explaining it to a child who knows absolutely nothing, that would probably help. I am a grown a** man, but I'm not ashamed to admit I sometimes need directions. But not directions to places and never from a woman, I always know where I am going when I am travelling.PSN: Koolie_G

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
chop up whatever song you want to use as a ringtone (down to 15-30 seconds {I've cut my 'tones down to 15 seconds}). Convert that file to AAC (which is .m4a Then change the extension from .m4a to .m4r Put the .m4r file back in itunes and sync.Comment

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
So will I be able to have custom tones, custom sounds for camera, texts etc...?
What apps do you recommend?
Also do I need to restore my phone?Comment

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
So when is this SDK going to be released and what is it going to allow?
I love the phone but some things that bother me...
I wish I could make custom ringtones (I tired the workaround but I obviously did something wrong as they would not sync with my phone all I did was change it to an .m4r. i dunno too much!)
Wish I could have custom sounds for my text messeges as well.
I also don't like how on itunes it doesn't have how long the songs are so you know when to rewind or fast foward.
One thing that gets on my nerves about the iPhone is when you use the keypad it makes sounds when it you hit the numbers (unless the phone is on silent) for the most part it doesn't matter because 99% of the people I call are on my contacts, but it's anoying sound when I have to do it.
A few other things I don't like. Not being able to delete certain text messages and not being able to forward them.
Not being able to delete certain calls.
One more thing...
What applications do you all have on your phone?
Sorry for so many questions, but I just got the phone Saturday so I missed out on everything when it was first released.Last edited by Brandwin; 02-20-2008, 05:30 PM.Comment

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
What is this 3G talk? it's going to be the same as the iPhones out now, but faster internet connection?
It's not slow now compared to other phones, but it would have been nice to have a faster connection.
Maybe I should have waited on my purchase... =/Comment

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
One more question...
is it okay to sync to two different computers? My girlfriend activated her iPhone on my pc and updated to 1.1.3 but the other stuff, contacts, pics, music etc she will be doing from her laptop at home.
Is that going to cause problems?Comment

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
Don't know what I am doing.
I did that, drug the song to my itunes ringtone folder. When I go to sync ringtones, the song isn't there anymore.
When I edit the song down, it won't even drag to the folder.
I dunno too much!Comment

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
Yeah, I dunno either...try searching online for this stuff...maybe you'll find some forums with people who have tried different things. We've got some people here who have dabbled, but the people on other forums probably really know what they're doing.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: iPhone Discussion Thread
This is how I do it.
1. Pick the portion of the song l want to use.
2. Convert it to acc
3. Drag the acc copy to my desktop and rename .m4a to .m4r
4. Double click on the .m4r and then it automatically goes into the ringtones section of itunes
This is the video I followed the first time I did it:
