Yeah...I've said it before though and this is just the culture of cell phones in general, not Apple. I'm more than willing to kill Apple when I think they're wrong, but I've known people that have to have the "latest" phone and end up buying them at full price (selling the old one on eBay)...It's just how phones work, once you've got one it's not cheap to upgrade right away.

I doubt that is true. Unlike other cell phones, you buy the iphone and then activate it at home. Unless they start activating iphones in the store, everyone will be paying the same price.

Mine is available for upgrade in October, but I still don't know if I'll finally get one. If they make it 30GBs and give a contract discount, I won't be able to pass it up. By then it should be unlocked again and some good software should be out.

yes, but the rumor is that AT&T will offer the $199 price for the phone with a new 2 year contract, in their stores. They had lots of problems with people not activating an exclusive phone on their network. This is just a way to compete. They'd rather get something by activating the iphone for a $199 contract rather than get nothing when someone never activates it on their network..

Ringtone question, I've never really messed with any ringtones, I typically just use vibrate but decided to check out potentially getting one, well the selection of ringtones is awful on the iTunes store but I don't know of anyway to get a ringtone by other means since I can't drag and drop into iTunes.

Anyone know how to get a song that isn't available on iTunes as a ringtone to be your ringtone?

is your phone jail breaked? There is a Ring tone program that make them right on your phone and it will use any of your songs in your library

Cut down desired song to 10-20 seconds using whatever audio program (Audacity is a favorite)
Convert that clip to AAC
Rename from .aac to .m4r (important, right click and "get info" and change under "name and extension"...must do it this way)
Add into iTunes and sync with iPhone

And your phone doesn't need to be jailbroken to do this

No not familiar with that so not sure how I'd go about doing it.

That sounds pretty easy, never used Audacity but I'll give it a try, can I convert clips in audacity or will I need any other programs to do that once its cut down?

I use iTunes to convert to aac....and it is indeed very simple
