It being compared to Scarface is all I need to know. I will go to the show as well as buy the bootleg and the retail version when it hits stores. Just from the trailer, its already right up my alley.

Its cool. Not the first time I've heard that. I consider Godfather to be overrated and some people look at me crazy. Scarface just had a wonderfully written story and Tony Montana is one of the most memorable characters in movie history. Up there with Darth Vader. IMO of course.

100% fresh rating so far on RottenTomatoes.com. I can see I'm going have to buy my tickets ahead of time cause everyone wants to see this movie.

When Scarface first released and the years that followed, the movie didn't have the following that it has today because of the hiphop world bringing Tony Montana and Scarface to the forefront this last 10+ years. I love Scarface and is an excellent movie imo, one of Pacino's best performances. Now I can't wait for Universal to release this puppy on HD-DVD. For those that haven't seen Carlito's Way, another movie that I recommend with Pacino that is underrated......the HD-DVD version just came out today. Another one of my favorite movies.

Back to American Gangster, as much as I don't like Russell Crowe, I still can't wait to see this movie. Denzel is one of the best actors to grace the screen. For those HD-DVD owners, I highly recommend checking out Inside Man...........very good movie with Denzel in it, it released this week.

Yes, my check was just direct deposited this past week............LOL! I know, I noticed afterwards that I was plugging HD-DVD a little too much there, but I guess sometimes I can't help it.

I really want to see this and I love the song choice in the trailer. That's one of my favorite Jay-Z songs.

I don't understand why people are getting upset over a simple observation and feel the need to prove me wrong. I just noticed that there was a shift from the Italians to the Irish recently with The Departed and the Black Donnelleys on TV. Now there is a black mob movie coming out, and we had a Russian mob movie come out recently (Eastern Promises). Seems to be a trend to me.

Quite a few crime/mob movies are based in fact, so I'm not sure how that eliminates my theory.

                            Sorry if I offended someone.

Although it's TV "Brotherhood" explores the Irish mob.
