    Scorpion problem

I just finished building my dream home, and everything is great, except for the scorpions.

Any idea how to kill these? Pesticides don't work very well, or at least their too slow.

So far, I have only seen one upstairs, which is my biggest concern. Most are in the master bath and closet, yet there's no door anywhere near there. There is an attic access, but do these things typically get in attics? I've never heard that.

I'm stepping on about one a day in that section of the house. The other parts of the house, I've only seen 2-3 in two months.

I live in north Texas, for reference.

      Re: Scorpion problem

to kill them find out what their food supply is that is drawing them there. kill all of the ones you see in the house and get rid of whatever they are eating that is leading them there. You have to get rid of their food supply and they will go somewhere else.

btw, to find them, use a blacklight. Those suckers glow like neon under blacklights. and they like piles. look under piles.

        Scorpions?

        Wow...let's hope they're not poisonous.
Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.

Most of the ones that come into houses are too small to hurt a human, at least in my experience.

Not poisonous, but freaky nonetheless. I have two small kids, and I don't want them getting freaked out by getting stung.

I see them in the open at night on the carpet. We've sprayed the house for general bugs, but it's getting hot, so I'm sure they're also looking for a cooler spot.

I just can't, for the life of me, figure out how they're getting in. Then I'd have a better idea how to solve this. A/C vents? I don't think so. The attic? I've heard they like the ground (I have no trees overhanging the roof) The plumbing inlets? Maybe.

I have a blacklight, but I need to get a better one.

Serious answer: I'd call an exterminator and see if there's anything they can do, along with things that could help keep them away in the future.

              Throwaway answer:

I'd use Sub Zero and try to freeze Scorpion, just make sure to avoid the spear and the teleport attack. If you can get him down then rip his head off and hold it in the air, dangling spine and all.

That's pretty creepy. Even if it was my dream house if we had scorpions my wife would be putting up the "For Sell" sign immediately!

Good luck! Hope you find the source that's attracting them.

                    Check Wasp Sprays.

And I'm being serious. My mom and I were spraying out house because we have some wasp problems with them burrowing into the wood, and when we were looking at the canister it said: "Gets rid of bees, wasps, and scorpions."

We laughed over it because there is no such thing as a wild scorpion in MA, but maybe you could try it.

I live in AZ, so scorpions are a way of life. They like to come up drainage systems. Something you can try is to fill up your tubs and drain them at night. Also, as someone else suggested, get rid of their food supply by making sure that you're getting rid of the other insects.

How far north do you find scorpions? I know they aren't in New England (as anything but a pet), but how far north do you see them?

Here in SW Florida the worst we have are "fire ants", "wasps", and "diamondback rattlesnakes". I say it's time to call a pest exterminator company before someone in your family gets hurt.
