    Your "must own" CD's!

Just thought about everyone putting down their "must haves" cd's. I mean dont make a definitive list, but just around 5 or so CDs that are a part of your life, that you will never part with....(p.s....greatest hit compilations dont count..except "The Eagles vol. I")

    I'll start..

    (in no order)

Beastie Boys.....License to Ill ( everyone in my high school owned this album, and it was played at every damn party!)

U2...................Achtung Baby! ( I liked the Joshua Tree...but this one just connected with me at the beginning, every song is solid.)

Depeche Mode...Music for the Masses ( Like no other band, if my life were to be made into a movie...they would provide the soundtrack)

Garth Brooks.....No Fences ( back in 1990 at SFA University, this album owned, and started many a drunken night...I learned to 2 step because of this one!)

Snoop Dogg.......Doggy Style ( what the beasties were in my high school years...the Dogg was to my college.)

kinda funny, that out of all genres...rap or hip hop is my least fave..but 2 artist made my list.....

*"Nevermind" by Nirvana - Nirvana's best album. (if you're just looking for their classics, pick up "Nirvana"... although he said Greatest Hits don't count.) "Nevermind" includes "Come As You Are" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

*"Hypnotize" by System of a Down - SOAD's most accessible album for their least hardcore fans. Music everyone that enjoys rock can headbang to. If you're really into SOAD, pick up all their albums. If you like more offbeat harder rock, pick up "Steal This Album!"

*"It's Time" by Michael Buble. I'm a huge Buble fan and I love the smooth tones on this album. Great for when you just want to relax. And it includes the major hit "Feeling Good".

*The black album from Metallica. A lot of people have strong opinions on this one - hate it or love it. Well, I love it. Aside from the obvious "Enter Sandman", it is filled with gems. Definitely pick it up.

*Don't rag on me for this one but... "Spring Awakening". I've been listening to it for about a month now and its winning 8 Tonys made me turn it back on repeat recently. I really love the rock-style music and the storyline is interesting too. It's got everything - something you and the girl could enjoy.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon - this is the classic CD that Floyd is famous for, with psychedelic surround sound and music that is still resonating today, this album is timeless.

Bruce Springsteen - Live 1975-1985 - Has all of Bruce's best music before he became more commercialized. Very emotional storytelling is Bruce at his best, some interludes he can nearly bring a tear to your eye with some of his stories.

2pac - Me against the world - This album is 2Pac at his best, because by now he's refined his sound and combined his typical rap with a hip hop laid back but still very angry sound. It's very raw and emotional, highlighted by the song "Dear Mama" which 2Pac wrote and song to his mother over the phone for Mothers Day.

Tool - Aenima - This CD is just Tool at their angry best IMO. With songs that are more in-depth and less "radio-ized" it really is a hard rock/metal sound.

Cold - Cold - Not a lot of people have even heard of Cold but they are one of the best "unknown" bands in history IMO and this is their "debut" CD although they actually had one CD before this one (which was not very good). This song kicks off with a very fast paced hard rock "Just got Wicked" song and closes with an emotional song called "Bleed", a gut wrenchingly emotional acoustic number that allows Scooter (the lead singer) to reveal why he sings.

You know what, that's right!! I was thinking that it was that because it was their debut album.

R.E.M. - Life's Rich Pageant: I'm a huge R.E.M. fan (it's where my username comes from) and this is, IMHO, their best work.

Pearl Jam - Vitalogy: Another one of my favorite bands. I love Corduroy. I could easily fill a "must own" list with just R.E.M. and Pearl Jam, but I'll keep it to one each.

Linkin Park - Meteora: A little more recent, but I've just about worn this CD out.

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm: Just a great debut album.

Dave Matthews Band - Crash: Got this right before graduating from college, so it brings back good memories.

I hate limiting this to 5 but here goes...

Duran Duran - Rio: One of my all-time favorites. Great 80's album.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - E 1999 Eternal: I've worn this CD out over the last 12 years. Great album

Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head or X&Y: I like these albums almost equally.

Jon B - Cool Relax: Little slower compared to the others I've listed. His collabo with Tupac on "Are U Still Down" is one of my favorites

Metallica - Metallica (Black): Easily my favorite Metallica album

                        Okay, I couldn't limit to 5. Here's two more...

Michael Jackson - Thriller: Owned the vinyl album and have the CD. Won't ever throw them out.

U2 - The Joshua Tree: Lots of their hits on this album
                        MLB: Cincinnati Reds
                        NFL: Cincinnati Bengals
                        NCAA Hoops: Xavier Musketeers
                        NCAA Football: Miami Hurricanes
                        NHL: Calgary Flames

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." - Edmund Burke

"The wisest men follow their own direction." - Euripides

Our Lady Peace - Naveed : The album that started it all for me, top to bottom still my favorite album of all time

Tesla - 5 Man Acoustical Jam : The best live, acoustic, whatever album ever recorded. I've heard it so many times that I even know when the fans yell. The 4 covers are simply amazing as well.

Our Lady Peace - Clumsy : Their most successful album ever, has all their major hits on it. Great album

Cinderella - Long Cold Winter : The best album they ever made, top to bottom great song after great song

Pearl Jam - Ten : I have no idea how many times I've heard this disc, but it's still not enough.
