the Saw movies aren't bad, but they all pale to the first one. That one had real suspense and plot. Now they're just trying to f people up in the craziest ways. I just don't think the writing's there, but there are worse movies to see in the theater. All the sound effects really get me, Saw 3 made me wince quite a few times.

But I have to say, despite the fact I picked up on the unanswered questions from 3... I'm shocked they're making it a sequel. From everything I read I thought it was supposed to be a trilogy....

Essentially, it is. It should be starting some new ground on this one, perhaps introducing a new Jigsaw and all brand new characters, with flashbacks and elements from the previous movies (and perhaps one or two returning characters as well, like Rigg, Hoffman, or maybe Alison or Jeff from Saw). But, the way that I see it, the first three are their own series in a trilogy, and I heard that they already have plans for a Saw V.

As long as Saw movies continue to make 100+ million in box office/international rights/DVD sales/etc... we will probably get a new one each year.

I enjoyed all 3 Saw movies and look foward to part 4.

I dont know. I really liked all of the Saw movies and cant wait for the rest. I'll wait to rent the next one, probably, but will definetly see it.

IGN previews the latest adventure in the Jigsaw experience.



Surely by now the Saw franchise needs no introduction to most of IGN's readers. The first picture in this horror series came in 2004, made by a pair of then Australian unknowns (director James Wan and scripter Leigh Whannell), and its huge success is often credited with having helped to launch the current "torture horror" movement. Studio Lionsgate has since followed with a sequel each year, with Darren Lynn Bousman taking over the director's chair.

Very interesting read.

I think that, as long as Saw IV becomes a separate part of what was known as a trilogy with the first three, that it gives me a chance to want to see it. I've finally given interest.

Not as weird as I am. Aside from the ending to Saw, the Unrated version of Saw III is bar none my favorite of the series.

I saw the first Saw and I think the third and neither did anything for me. Could be just me, though.

I've liked them all. If they start with new characters I'll go see it, if they continue with Jeff trying to find his daughter I'll still go and see it. I just think that there are movies out there that are a lot worse.
