    Lame MacGuffin (magic rocks???)
Way too over the top when it comes to being "dark" in parts
No development of any of the characters
    Short Round
    Kate Capshaw
Really bad effects, even for the day
Somewhat embarrassing portrayal of certain races
    The unnecessary dinner sequence
    oh, and Kate Capshaw

If only the film would have lived up to the promise made in the opening sequence...Lao Che was a much better villain than Mola Ram and he was only in the film for about 10 minutes.

I dont understand why people dismiss the constant CGI in this movie by comparing it to the bad effects of the previous three, those movies were made how long ago? Thats like excusing the worst Xbox 360 game created because it looks better then anything on the Atari, its not a valid point and makes no sense. We expect more now then we ever did then, the bar has been raised and there were certain points in this Indy film where the filming of it really looked terrible, by current day standards, not baed on what we expected 10+ years ago.

My point was that the effects in the older ones weren't as good as other films made at the same time either. They're doing a homage to B-movies, which includes somewhat subpar effects. Spielberg even wanted to put visible brushstrokes in the CGI mattes to make them look painted, but was overruled.

I actually prefer the matte paintings - I think they fit Indy's universe a lot better.

Finally saw the movie. I only watched half of The Temple of Doom and The 3rd one. I thought 4 was great. It had that Indie vibe. However i can see why some might not have liked it

I agree, but I read somewhere that part of the problem is that there simply aren't world-class matte artists out there anymore because of CGI. If that's true, it's pretty sad....

I agree, one of the thoughts that I had during the movie was that it appeared to be too "clean" and could have used some more grit to roughen the edges a bit.

Lucus didn't screw this one up. I saw it on Thursday and have to say I was pleased with the result. I didn't go in expecting it to be the best of the 4, but it certainly wasn't the worst of the 4.

If I had to rank the Indy triology, I'd put it like this.

                  Raiders
                  Crusade
                  Crystal Skull
Temple (Not awful, but these movies are pretty good as a whole)

                  Northern Iowa Panthers
                  Minnesota Vikings
                  Chicago Cubs
                  Minnesota Twins
                  Boston Celtics

Re: The New Indy starts filming

I saw this again today with my dad for fathers day (he is a big indy fan, he was the one who got me hooked in the first place). I enjoyed the movie a bit more the second time through when I knew what was coming/stopped trying to figure out the movie. My dad enjoyed it but we both agreed it was the least cerebral of all the movies, and the chase scene in the jungle went on way too long/wasn't really necessary at all. It is a fun movie, but it could have tried to develop a better plot/better characters.

Ya, the hat and Karen Allen.

                      2. Indy 3
                      3. Indy 4 (first half of so)
