Re: Ipod or Zune?
Zune is a great player. As candy said, the software isn't. I've had mine for half a year now and love it. I upgraded from a creative zen which had even less battery life, so the zune's battery life is an upgrade for me. If you set the backlight to the lowest setting and turn off wireless you should get a decent amount of battery life.
Right now the wifi on it is basically worthless unless you know some people that have their own zune.
Until you understand how the software works and how, when, and why it transfers songs, it's a pain. Once you understand it and the options you have, the software is ok, not great.

If I play songs on this nonstop, I have gotten about a good 12 hours worth out of the battery. I would recommend turning off the wifi and dimming the light on the background like Mud recommended, you might be able to stretch it out to 14 hours which is listening to music alone.
Videos, you can get about 3-3.5 hours.Comment

Re: Ipod or Zune?
I don't even use ITunes for my IPod. I use winamp with the IPod plug-in. You can just drag and drop and don't have to sync. It does it as it copies the file over. You might want to see if there's a Zune plug-in for Winamp if the software is clunky. I detest ITunes with a passion. The only time I ever use ITunes is to copy over my podcasts, then I open the IPod with Winamp and copy the music and talk shows over.Comment

I havent come across anything better...
Of course I now mostly obtain my music via legal means, and its tough to beat iTunes in that category.Comment

Re: Ipod or Zune?
I just bought an Ipod recently and love it. I liked the Zune too, but I have an Imac so I went with the Ipod mainly for that reason. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: Ipod or Zune?
Just picked up my Zune for $199 and $50 mail-in rebate. Had Office Depot price match Circuit City's $199. Office Depot was offering a $50 rebate. Now I'm off to see how to work this fine piece of electronics. Peace!!!!!!The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: Ipod or Zune?
You can use music bought off iTunes on a Zune btw with a program called Tunebite or Soundtaxi so that shouldn't be an issue.Comment

Re: Ipod or Zune?
I agree with this. I hate iTunes. It is clunky, crappy and extremely overrated IMO. I like Windows Media Player far more than iTunes. I am sure nobody here will agree. iTunes is the reason why I would not suggest an iPod.
