Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

QOS was great, but not Casino Royale EXCELLENT. I can't put my finger on it, but taking this new direction with Bond being a killer isn't the Bond I grew up watching. The quick cuts in the action sequences were ok, but it is something that worked fine in the Bourne franchise and where it should stay.

I have a feeling that the third Bond will bring him back to what we have loved about classic Bond. I could be wrong here, but with both 'CR' and 'QOS' this is a very green and young Bond.............that also acts Rogue. At the end of 'QOS' he

    Just my .02 cents.

I know many complained about the length, but it wasn't an issue for me. Since this clocks in a few minutes less than the excellent Dr. No. I did have a slight problem with action scene after action scene. There was just way too much of it. Other than that, I still enjoyed QOS.

I thought it was decent. I chuckled a bit because the Main Bond girl in the movie in real life is from the Ukraine. In the film she is half Russian and half Bolivian. To make this work it looks like she spent a lot of time in the tanning booth because she is much darker than the pictures I have seen of her in Maxim.

Also, has there ever been a Bond with less dialogue than Daniel Craig? Thinking back, I can't say I miss the one liners, but he's going to have to open his mouth to expand on this new persona.

Saw the movie last night. Truly a good action flick. However just like everyone before me has mentioned, too many fast action shots. It takes away from the movie. However i do like where they're taking bond.

I personally think Daniel Craig is a actor who can do bond a bit of Justice. He can has so far has been playing that tuff guy running around killing people, but he also has a charm to as the previous bonds have had.

The only bad thing, is no GADGETS!!!!! I loved watching the Bond movies for the interesting contraptions they came up with. They need to get my friend 007 some more cool nifty gadgets to play with.

On a whole, i love the fact that this one is a sequel. I think it'll root the series better. Having one over arching "entity" that is behind everything diabolical is better than creating new enemies every movie. Hopefully they continue the series with this one evil entity.

Overall the movie is a solid B for me.

Re: James Bond: Quantum of Solace

Just came back from seein it now...

this not a Bond movie. Nor does it make itself into one or try to be one. it's different. very different.

there were great scenes in this. very gritty but i felt it didn't know how to end right.

Craig did an awesome job again.

But the highlight for me was the directing and editing...

The way scenes went into each other were good. so there was a good pace to the film albeit a unfocused script.

the movie came together nicely and was a very intriguing film in some parts.

I just can't help but think that a bond movie CAN become an Oscar contender once they get the scripting and theme right... It's something tht should be considered. heck if BATMAN 2 can be in contentuion how the heck can't a great bond movie be? fugitve got itself a nomination as well...
              But i digress.

great movie. getting it later as well on dvd/bluray

No, he never does. It is the first Bond movie where that line is left out.

Honestly, I can't even think of a spot where he would've said it that would've fit within the story.

Im not sure it would have fit anyways, the movie is a continuation so everyone important already knows who he is so there was no need for a formal introduction like in past movies.

Exactly. This is a completely different brand of Bond film.

Loved it! Great Bond film and a worthy successor to CR. I look at it as the middle of a trilogy. For once there was not a cringe worthy moment, the humor was there, but neither juvenile nor over the top. No gadgets. Bond uses his wits and physical prowess to deal with any obstacles in his way just like the books. In the novels for those that did not read them Bond is anything but an indestructible superhero, the villains and the settings are what is fantastic, but Bond is all too human and this film did a good job of showing that aspect.

I kind of had issues with the way he is handled in regards to M and following orders, in the books he is always portrayed as a loyal civil servant that follows orders and holds his boss M in the highest regards, the last two films however this is done away with completely. One more little complaint M should stay in her bloody office and run all the MI6 not just one agent. I even liked the title song something I haven't been able to say sine TLD.

There was a perfect moment to use the short story by Fleming but alas the film only took it's name and nothing else.

                              A solid 8/10

I'll put it number 7 on my list of Bond films.

Believe it or not, I am kind of happy that gadgets haven't been introduced yet. Or else we end up with Pierce Brosnan James Bond films. I really enjoyed the heck out of Brosnan's Bond, it was that it just got too hokey at times.

In some respects I agree with you here and others don't. I think he still does hold M to the highest regard. When M was almost killed at the beginning of the movie, it was another thing that was added to his list of revenge against the baddies with Vesper's death being his first goal. When he was flying the plane, he came out calling her a pain in the rear........except that he does see her as a mother. I think this film showed that Bond does care about M as a motherly figure.
