Nice find. I might have to rent this in DVD form so I can stop the screen and look for myself.

From some of the theories, this is what I think:

Mikey is in the corner because, as the legend goes. the Witch doesn't like to be watched when she does her killing. Also, as the story went, the Witch has the ablitiy to possess someone. Josh has become possessed by the Witch and is holding Mike in the corner. When the broad comes down the steps, the Witch nails her. Mike is then off'd by Josh, per the Witches bidding, and then the Witch disposes of Josh. Everyone's dead and the legend continues.

I saw it at the show during its first week at the box office and I was also niave into thinking it was real. I remember when the movie ended, nobody got out of they're seat. An entire crowded movie theater sat there in awe after the credits finished.

I must have watched it with a different type of crowd. The moment that kid said he threw the map in the creek,the rest of the movie because a laugh fest.

I remember the buzz around this flick before it came out and the mass hysteria about whether it was real or not lol.

You weren't really naive, hell a lot of people including myself were fooled about it being fiction. That was the genius of it...the entire backstory, the website, the internet rumors, etc.

I can still remember when I first saw the trailer, I just sat there like because I too thought it might have been real at the time...just made me want to see it even more.

Count me in the naive club. The pub surrounding this movie was awesome and they really promoted it well. I and a lot of people in the theatre were under the assumption that it was real too.
And I think what made the movie really erie was that there was no sound (background music I should say). The only noise came from those amateur cameras they carried.

I think the scariest part for me was when Mike and the girl woke up to Josh screaming/moaning from pain. That was pretty creepy.

P.S. What was in the 'package' (which was wrapped up in a piece of Josh's shirt) that the girl found the next morning after that night? Was it a finger? Some think it was teeth?

Scariest moment for me was when they were running from something and that thick veil of fog floated pass the camera. Made me skin crawl. I'm like "did you see that"??

I knew it was fake going in, and I didn't even see it until it was out on video.

Nothing really scared me but there were some genuinely creepy and chilling moments...like them hearing the children's laughter in the tent, all the little handprints inside the witch's house, etc.

This movie had one of if not the best marketing campaign for a movie of all time...friggin' genius.

Agreed 100%. I followed it for a year before it came out. Saw it in a sold out theater, great time.

To me the movie lost any credibility when they found a source of water and somehow wandered away from it. Anyone who's ever been taught a thing about hiking or going into woods knows if you get lost and find a source of running water you follow it as it will always take you back to civilization.
