Man vs. Wild's Bear Grylls not so wild
The network issued a statement Monday in response to an investigation launched by British television network Channel 4, which carries the program under the title "Born Survivor: Bear Grylls." Channel 4 confirmed that host Bear Grylls had partaken of indoor accommodations on at least two occasions when his series had depicted him spending the night in the wild. But among the charges made against Grylls is that a raft he is depicted as having built himself actually was constructed and then disassembled by consultants to the show in order for the host to put it together. In another episode, Grylls happens upon what are referred to as wild horses that were said to be brought in from a trekking station.Tags: None -
Re: Man vs. Wild's Bear Grylls not so wild
I always knew Survivorman's Les Stroud was way more badass. He gets dropped in the wild all on his own. He does his own filming and lugs all his camera equipment around himself and doesn't even carry a flint just starts a fire with whatever he can find.Comment

LOL that's funny man.
It's fun to watch but you know if it was really someone out there they would probably die. he says things like "going back to my SAS training" when the average person has no military rock climbing or special forces training to rely on when in the middle of nowhere need to get out.
Some of the things he eat are disgusting though.
Looking forward to seeing survivorman. Haven't caught it yet but i do find this stuff enteraining.Comment

Seriously!!!!! Bear is a girly man, Les is the real Survivorman! I've always disliked Man vs. Wild because Bear will climb 200 ft sheer ice cliffs and tell us to be careful. Les does more what we would (or should) in that situation.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

yah, I've always found that Survivorman is way more realistic and the guy Les doesn't bring a camera crew with him so you know he can't "cheat"

I watched 4 episodes in a row one night at the hospital. That show is addicting. Sucks he appears to be a cheater."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

Re: Man vs. Wild's Bear Grylls not so wild
Thats what i always wondered.
Often times Bear will say that this was a rather lonely journey/experience for him. But I assume there was a camera guy with him the whole time. So how lonely can it actually get...........
I loved the show but i am switching to Survivorman.Comment

me and my friends have assumed this for a while....
We always pretend to be the cameraman...

Re: Man vs. Wild's Bear Grylls not so wild
it's all entertainment. Believing shows like this 100% is foolish anyways. I like the show, but all he does is go from place to place, putting himself is what seemed like highly scripted scenarios even before people were on a campaign to bring him down. Around the internet, there was allegations of severe editing and scripted adventures since before the newest season started, but this is the first time a big media site posted about it.
I found it odd from the beginning that he almost always has a story to go along with the exact thing he's doing at the time. While entertaining, it shows they planned out many of the things he does. I'm fine with that. I'm sure people will only start to claim the other guy is more hardcore.
I found survivorman boring. Grylls may be as legit as Criss Angel, but it's all about charisma and making what I'm watching entertaining.Last edited by bkfount; 07-25-2007, 06:17 PM.Comment
