Allright, cool. Although if it's like you said, I might just stick with MvW for the entertainment purposes.

He ate a sheep's eyeball. That's all that matters to me.

I always knew he was a friggin hack.

I read this way back and this thread made me remember it. I had to look deep for it heh. It was posted on 7-7-07 over at the Discovery channel Bear Gryll's Man vs. Wild boards.

First of all I want to say that I love you guys. Your programming is really top notch, and I simply wouldnt watch TV at all if you and your affiliates were not on the air.

But with that said, I just got done watching your Bear Grylls Rocky Mtn episode and must say I was highly upset and dismayed.

I have been a packer and hunter most of my life and have been up the Stoddard Cr. trail head elk hunting before. This is outside of Shoup Idaho in the central part of the state, and is almost at the confluence of the middle fork and main body of the Salmon river.

At one point in the episode, as Bear talks about being a long way from civilization, the screen flashes to a steep peak that offers a truly spectacular view of just how rough the "river of no return" country really is.......only problem is that peak is where the Stoddard cr. trail winds its way up the mtn side. After crossing a very long suspension bridge that I've packed many mules across, and on the other side? A road that begins outside of Salmon Idaho and dead ends at Corn Creek.

I even printed out a picture of my hunt so that my family would finally believe me and compared it to the screen..........we couldnt have been standing more than a few feet from each other when each shot was taken......standing ON the corn cr. road. Its that close of a match.

Now this Bear Grylls fellow is a British SAS vet, and has climbed mount Everest, he has my deepest respect. By the same token, I cannot feel but disappointed that maybe Hollywood has gotten ahold of him, or his values.

And saddest of all, the Frank Church wilderness at 2.5 MILLION acres, and the Selway Bitteroot wilderness to the north at 2.0 MILLION acres...........couldnt PROVIDE a remote enough location for him to work his survival skills in?

I find that EXTREMELY hard to believe, or was it the fact that it was too remote?

If anybody wants to see my pictures email me at:

            [email protected]

or visit my website and check them out for yourself.

And lastly, this isnt meant to harm anyone, just a wake up call to do.
Turns out everything this guy posted checked out and he was right. Bears a hack. The thread is a good read.

Aw man that sucks. Eh, whatever though, Bear still has a lot more charisma than Les and I've yet to see snap a rabbit's neck or pee on his boxers and put them on his head to cool off lol. I'm gonna stick with MvW, I love that show.

Oh yeah, he doesn't always bring a flint either, I've seen plenty of times where he's made fires using wood and moss.

I will continue to watch Bear and Man vs. Wild. It entertains me. That is all I ask.

I don't mind Survivor Man, but hearing Les complain about something doesn't entertain me as much as Bear jumping into a freezing river or eating a dead sheep's eye.

If I wanted to hear complaining, I would get married.

new survivorman starts Aug 10th I believe. No need to watch any other survivor shows. Les is the man.

bear is more of a charismatic showman, and makes his show entertaining. Survivorman is dry and boring to me, but so is PBS, yet people still watch that. Different people want different things in their shows. Bear has charisma and makes the hour entertaining.

I don't really care how to get out of a swamp. Make it fun to watch and I will. Bear Grylls does that. Even with it dramatized, I'll still watch it.

I find it hard to believe that Les and his show are 100% straight up as well.

I know he supposedly is alone and carries his own equipment and all that jazz...just don't know if I truly believe that he's not doing the same things Bear is.
