They just shut down the main bridge in St. Cloud because of the gussets. Its a headache to get to school now but I'd rather be on the safe side.

Some of these 2003 photos reveal bent gusset plates that were probably the beginning of the warping on the bridge.

Almost makes me afraid to drive on a bridge again.

Gusset plates that are slightly bent are seen in the center of this June 2003 photo of the Interstate 35W bridge in Minneapolis, Minn. The bridge plunged into the Mississippi River during rush hour on Aug. 1, killing 13 people. The plates are in areas believed to be among the first points of failure on the bridge.

Where in that pic is the "slightly bent" steel!? I can not seem to see it.
