If by "unique" you mean a generic southern album about selling crack, then it's completely unique.

I'm sorry, but it's hard for me to take a guy who was a millionaire by age 13 seriously when he talks about selling crack and calls a man who's not his father "daddy"

that's true, and it really labels people who buy his or any mainstream artists' crap a ******.

No better example than Mims saying "I can make a mil, saying nothing on the track"

sadly, he's right. What a slap in the face to people in America.

              The part where they say "Ayooo" reminds me of that Red Hot Chili Peppers Song "Snow";

"Hey oh, listen what I say-o".

The beat is pretty cool, and 50 Cent has a nice flow in the song. And this coming from someone who hates everything this dude stands for.

lol well i didn't mean a ******... but we can all make wiser choices... the reason hip-hop is in dismay is because of what the listeners allow it to be. You can't change someone's taste tho...

People who make music, make music for people who don't know about music (ah tough to say)... I can't get over how much my siblings don't know squat about music really, but their favorite songs are the ones being overplayed every day on the radio...

I actually make music, but from what I understand makes a good song and overall good music, none of that gets popular.

He's right. He's a producer, so he really doesn't have to say anything on a track to get paid.

Honestly, that's why I love lingering in the underground scene. It's music with substance, music that actually means something to someone. Artists who just want to be heard, not become rich. It's an outlet, a way of communicating what's on their mind...the true essence of an emcee.

Hell, you have TONNES of underground artists rejecting major label contracts because labels are in control of what you put out on a record. How can you call yourself an artist when another group of people are telling you what to put out? Yeah, they reward you money and fame and all that ****, but like brother Ali says "Not being broke is rich."

How so? Mims would classify himself as a producer first. Sure he's not getting anywhere close to that amount, but it's true. He makes the beat, gets paid and doesn't have to say anything. He did a lot of work in Canada before he made it here.

And just for the record, I'm not a fan of his. At all. Not even a little bit.

When it all comes down to this music business in any genre, some "artists" should be ashamed that they consider themselves just that.

Hmm, that's cool, I don't know too much about him, but that line always made me laugh/cringe. I guess if that's what he meant, my mistake.

What 50 is doing is just an extension of that old wanna be Mafioso stuff that Wu-Tang started and then Biggie took to another level.

Violence really isn't "in" anymore anyway. It's about dancing and being a slave to consumerism.
                              That's ludicrous.

Wu-Tang, specifically Raekwon, told tales about the gangsta life. Biggie wrote about getting paid in a funny and imaginative maner.

50 does not story tell or have any witty punchlines or humor in his songs. I mean just listen to the song. It's straight up: generic trash. He claims "I run New York" with no evidence to back it up. He then spits out played out lines about ferraris and bank accounts. I found it a tedious boring song.

JiggidyJames if you're actually interested in listening to good rap music that does hearken back to Wu-Tang and Biggie I'd recommend turning off the radio and picking up Ghostface Killah's album Fishcale or Clipse's album He Hath No Fury or their mixtape We Got It 4 Cheap, Volume 2. All of those CDs have interesting stories, witty lyrics, overarcing themes and motifs to make the albums distinct and artistic and most importantly they still have banging beats.

I'll agree with this, especially since I think the truly great songs take more time to really "get" than the catchy singles and very rarely do I think the catchy singles are some of the best songs on their respective albums (of course there are always exceptions).
