to me, it's basically Bear's charisma and entertainment vs Les' more real advice for situations 99.99999% of viewers will never see themselves in.Comment

Bear's a douche (a scripted douche even). If I want to watch a crappy action movie I've got dozens of them sitting around to watch.
Give me Survivorman any day of the week.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Man vs. Wild or Survivor man?
I like Survivorman a lot more just because he's more of a regular guy who just goes out in the woods and hangs out for a few days while Bear is an ex military guy who does things on the show I would never ever try like sliding down a glacier with an ice axe or downclimbing a giant cliff. He makes it sound really easy but would anyone that didnt have military training actually try some of the crazier stuff he does. Les Stroud just goes out there, he's got his own camera equipment and does all his filming, makes a fire(Bear always has a flint too which is BS) and shelter, finds water and eat bugs, simple but I love it. I've seen every episode, most of them several times but I always put it on and watch the whole episode whenever I see it.
I sort of agree with Snepp, although I don't mind Bear at all his show is more of a production that tries to get in one or two big stunts every episode. Survivorman on the other hand while yes has a slow portion here or there, just seems more realistic. While obviously I don't plan on getting in any situations like that in the near future I feel like if were somehow stranded in the desert or mountains I could actually do most of the things Les Stroud does and survive for a little while at least. Plus while Bear Grylls or whatever pretty cool name how awesome is to mostly be known as Survivorman.Comment

Re: Man vs. Wild or Survivor man?
I didn't vote because I've only watched one of each. Not enough for a solid vote if I haven't gotten a few times to view them. For some reason, Man vs. Wild came across as a show where he was trying to impress along the Steven Segal type of personality. I HATE Steven. Survivor man on the other hand had a dude who was starving, putting his life on the line, struggling to survive for his life. I liked how "regular" he is. Nice to see the M.v.W. but Survivorman gets my attention more.Comment

Re: Man vs. Wild or Survivor man?
Man VS Wild for me. It's not even close.
Les Stroud is Mr. No Personality. He's one of the most boring ****s I've ever seen on TV. Bear is entertaining and full of personality. He makes a show about doing boring ****, extremely entertaining - where as Les makes me want to put a bullet through my brain. God he's one dull ****er.Comment

Hmm. I just watched Survivorman for the first time this weekend and then DVR'd another few episodes. Awesome stuff. I'm not sure why people think he's boring. Maybe I'm boring too because I liked the show a lot.Mario Kart Wii: 1203 9969 5095

Re: Man vs. Wild or Survivor man?
So Les films himself crossing a huge lake, goes back to get the camera and re-crosses again?
Funny because as scripted as MvW is, dude eats goat balls and all kinds of gross stuff on camera for his show which would be hard for the average man to stomach for any reason.Comment

Re: Man vs. Wild or Survivor man?
If I had to be out in the middle of nowhere with one of them, I'd go with Les because he actually values life and wants to survive. Bear Grylls would have me jumping off mountains headfirst, climbing 100 ft. trees for the view, and eating antelope penis. No, thank you. I'll camp out with Les and wait until help arrives.
both shows are great though...Comment
