I'm curious to why Kanye gets hate from you. You can't tell me you don't feel some of his beats, especially before he blew up. The song "classic" with him Nas and Rakim, that song he had with Little Brother. All im saying is he does real hip-hop. The trash is songs like "whipe me down."

I don't hate him and as I said in the other thread I like some of his songs. I just don't buy into his hype.

It's because 95% of the times, people don't want to be bombarded with messages about what's really happening when they listen to music. They want to forget what's going on in the world, and that's why you see 50 Cent making millions by singing about Shawty's birthday.

You don't have to have a message all the time to make good music. I like TI and Lil Wayne songs but I don't like hearing the exact same thing in every song. There's some times where I can't even tell the difference between some of these guys.

Don't generalize about why people don't like rap. I've listened to all styles of rap/hip-hop, and I think it's all absolute *earmuffs*. It's not the message, it's the style I think sucks. A bunch of guys talking quickly to rhyme over some *earmuffs*ty beats. Rap just sucks. Period. From top to bottom.

Mood, the way I see it...

There is good hip hop out there, it's just a matter of not listening to the gunk on the radio and going to find it. There are people that don't want to find it, whether it be laziness, not realizing this to be the case, or just flat out aren't interested. That's the way it is, but to those that actually do go the extra mile to listen to good hip hop, good for you. I found out a long time ago there's no convincing people that it exists, it's something everybody needs to find out for themselves.

I know that there are lots of people who don't care to find anything different but the problem is that the radio helps contribute to making the rap stereotype what it is. They play songs that talk about the exact same thing all the time. It's not like they try to play anything different either and it failed, every month they put out the "Lil whatever" rapper who talks about the same thing that the last guy talked about and they just continue that cycle. No one will know about anything different if they never hear anything different.

Sometimes I feel like an old man when I talk about this stuff but I just hate how rap is pegged as one thing just because no one hears any of the good stuff.

Nothing but pure noise, no talent at all, I mean anyone can play a distorted guitar and sevedust's acoustic album was probably one of the worst albums I've heard in the last ten years. Just plain garbage, I guess that's why they have to scream to make a point and nobody loves them.

I think you have to blame the night clubs, bars, or kids who just like ****ty rap, majority of which are white. I mean they love people like Young Berg but never even heard of rappers like Common or even Lupe Fiasco. They play what people listen to to get $. That's how America is nowadays, you can sell your dignity.

50 doesn't care to rap anymore, after he botched his BET fan vote song, he stated it doesn't matter anymore vitamin water ladies and gentlemen. It was reported he made an estimated 100 to 150mil on that coca cola purchase couple with his net worth of 150mil. I say he got in the game to get paid and found rap as a hustle. I'd say he accomplished his goal. Some people try to make rap and hip hop sanctimonious and myopic of one mind set which it is not, its like everything in life diverse. I like some of 50 songs and I like aggressive content. I don't like any new underground rap, cause its a front. Rap isn't underground anymore its out front and personal. Rap hasn't been underground since the mid 90's, and its less underground since the Internet has become popular. Most if not all of rap is recycled messages, that's why it doesn't get played, when a so-called conscious rapper start donating monies and doing all those things he/she says he's going to change instead of just rap about it, then he/she will more credibility. At least 50 knows he's a problem and gives millions of dollars back through his g-unity foundation.

Lip service is all you pay, then their is no consciousness about you, you're just a talker. So make some money out of your medium and help the situation.

that's the biggest problem and I'm exposed to the thoughts of these people even in my own family.

My brothers and sister aren't too much into music so the radio suits them, and for some reason they like all the stuff they hear and think some of that trash bubblegum crunk is some fiyahhh...

and it pains me, because they are missing out on "Great" music because they frankly don't care to make the effort to check on all of that.

Wow this is interesting news. Lately 50s joints have been lackluster and i've never really liked Kanye's songs. However 50 is madd cocky though. Yet Kanye has the same cockiness, its just that his it a bit suttle. He thinks he reiterated rap with his song Jesus Walks.

However if i had to vote, i would go with 50.
