It's not really that new of a trend. Shows have always gone on breaks during the winter months because of the holidays and lower ratings. Not to mention the increase in ratings in the Spring.

The reason why this is more noticeable today is because of the influx of serialized drama on television. When a storyline is broken up we tend to notice it more than say a show like "Seinfeld" that airs shows independent of each other's storyline.

In fact, I recall that most shows would even have a "To Be Continued" episode in-between season breaks as a way to tie in the first half with the second. Cliffhangers, on the other hand, have always been a great way to close out a season and draw in viewership for the next season.

I don't care about going on break. Most every show does it. It's the point that they were supposed to go on break after the December 17th episode. They are going on break over a month before they orginally planned to.

Now we will more than likely end season 3 on a bland note. There might not be a cliff hanger, and it could kill ratings if there is a season 4. Hell, Season 3 could have been the finish of the series, but because of the strike we won't get the ending.

Awesome episode so far. Sucks that we have a two month break.

I'll donate $100 to the WGA, if they get back to work on Prison Break.

I don't think I can handle not getting the full season this year, once the show comes back in January.

I'm wondering what the gun shot recording was for. What does Lincoln plan to do?

Yeah, when Dominic Purcell said this season was going to be the best, I had my hesitations. And after the first episode or two, I still wasn't "sold" on it being the best of the three seasons.

However, after the past few episodes, I believe this season to be right up there with season 1. They both have their different things, but they are amazing in their seperate ways. I'd put season 1 slightly above season 3, only because I prefer the blue atmosphere of season 1 over the red/tan of this season. Yes, I based the rankings of the seasons based on the color schemes.

Season 1 was also so new, I'd never seen anything like it before. I also liked the supporting cast(Abruzzi, TBag, CNote, Sucre, Sara, Veronica, LJ, Kellerman, Daniel Hale, etc..) over this years(Lechero, Sammy, TBag who hasn't done anything, McGrady, Whistler, Susan/Gretchen, Sofia, Sucre who hasn't really done anything.)

Sucre and TBag in Seasons 1 and 2 > Sucre and TBag in season 3. If I would change anything about this season, I would get them more involved. I really want to see TBag break out into his badass self. He is an awful human being, but I just "love to hate" him. Sucre has really only gotten hit by a car, broken up with Mari Cruz(amazing scene BTW), and gotten drunk outside of Lincoln's hotel room.

With that said, the fall season of season 3 was amazing. I love this show, and cannot wait until it comes back in January. Hopefully the strike ends by then, and the writers can start work on the remaining episodes of the season(series?).

I honestly don't care what they do.

The writers for this show are amazing, they always make things work out. People weren't happy that Michael ended up in Sona, but I think it has worked out awesome.

The writers know what they are doing. They wouldn't do something if they thought it would ruin the show. If they go to another prison, I'm sure they will make it work so you end up liking it.

Edit: I will say one thing though, what was up with the General? He wouldn't say a word in public in seasons 1 or 2, but now he's just speaking freely? What gives?
