Ditto, I'm 6 episodes into the Lost Season 3 Blu-Ray set. All I'm doing is getting more pumped for Jan. 31 2008!

Exactly. I heard on the Blu-Ray exclusive special feature, they confirm that Christian Shepard is DEAD. Period.

During an earlier season (2?), the producers said something on one of their podcasts to the effect that at the end of the series, everything that happens will have been scientifically explainable. Have they backed off that claim or is that what we're still being led to believe?

I think for the most part it will be scientifically explainable. I'm not sure everything will be explained in a sense that it is completely plausible in the current day and age, but I think the explanations will be grounded in reality.

For example, there is scientific evidence that magnetism can have a positive effect on cell regeneration and overall health, which could explain Locke's Wolverine-like ability to heal from wounds. However, I highly doubt there are places like the island where you would heal from a bullet wound in a day or two. Hopefully that makes sense.

The trailers look great, I'll put my thoughts/predictions in spoiler tags just in case someone doesn't want to see them.

The people who come to the island via helicopter appear to be enemies of the Others. It doesn't look like they attack they Losties at first sight so they may not initially have ill-will towards them. That guy who looks like a cross between Charlie and a skinny Kurt Russell says their main objective isn't to get people off the Island, I'd guess it's the Others and what they are trying to accomplish in the name of science (or whatever the hell they're doing). I would imagine animosity grows between the Losties and the Helicopteries when they refuse to rescue the Losties.

My early guess is that the season finale shows the people in the helicopter leaving the island and either Jack and Kate sneak on to the chopper somehow or they bargain their way on board similar to what Michael did to get Walt back.

That one I am assuming is going to be borderline science fiction. There's just no way that can be explained realistically, but I will wait and see. Even if they can't explain them in reality, I have to say that I really enjoy watching this show, even though I know that I'm likely to be disappointed by the "answers." The mystery and guessing and the characters just make it so fun.

In a Season 3 podcast (soon after the appearance of "Jacob"), they pretty much backed off that claim.
