Music in 20 or 30 years

What do you think will be considered "classic" music in 20 or 30 years from now like ACDC, the rolling stones or whoever else is played on classic rock stations?

I'll go on a very thick, sturdy limb and say that none of those will be considered "classic." People will not be listening to "In Da Club" 30 years from now like people listen to "Freebird" today (or most other classic rock songs).

        I can see it now.........

The children that are 17, 18 years old now who will be 40 and have their own little teenagers listening to whatever "garbage" music they're listening to, and they would tell their children, "This is how WE got down back in our day, the good old days......" and proceed to put in a (possibly) obsolete compact disc and introduce their children to classic cuts like "Laffy Taffy", "Coffee Shop", "Chicken Noodle Soup" and "Walk It Out" ..........

That would be a sad day.

I honestly don't know what would be though of as classic.

Maybe Metallica, Bon Jovi, I hate to say it but Nickelback is a possibility, I'm not sure if Aerosmith is already considered "Classic rock" or not

Aerosmith is classic rock (Sweet Emotion, Dream On, Train Kept A-Rollin') and modern rock (Crazy, Cryin, Livin on the Edge, etc..). They have pretty much defied the laws of aging. Moreso than the Stones, I'd say.

Is there really anyone that is deserving of that already? I can't think of one person or group that I could imagine I'd still be listening to 30 years from now.

For me personally Radiohead and Tool are about the only ones that come to mind that I'm pretty sure I'll still be listening to 20 years down the road.

Re: Music in 20 or 30 years

Mainstream stuff on a "classic rock" station down the line?

These are all possibilities; Muse, The White Stripes, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Incubus, Social Distortion, Queens of the Stone Age...

Some of those bands maybe not, some of those bands probably, some of those bands already get classic rock play (Pearl Jam, Nirvana). We'll see, I guess.

These aren't my personal choices though. There are only very select bands I can listen to on a consistent basis and see myself listening to for a long time in the future, like Metallica, Bad Religion, Pennywise, The Offspring, etc.

You just know the old school urban stations will have P Diddy and Jay Z playing constantly.

I don't know if he's already considered classic but Snoop Dogg will be played a lot as well.

Brian McKnight and (the potential is there) John Legend will most likely be on the "quiet storm" blocks.
