I'm sorry but what was macho about that?

Meh, I really don't care. People should have been up in arms in the 80s when GI Joe didn't really have much to do with being an "American solider" in the 80s when he squared off against Cobra Commander.

Paramount is doing what its in its own interest and I can't fault them- they're making a financially better move. Also, I think making analogies to WWII is flawed here because public response is just a tad different today, whether you like it or not. They're interpreting the film in a way that maximizes their profits. The movie would bomb if they went straight jingo-istic with this.

I'm far more angry at the Halloween remake more than something like this

I don't understand why the letters in G.I. even have to be explained.

Just let it be and no one would even notice.

Somebody has to go under cover against the drug cartels. Why not hippie Joe?

It is just funny from when GI Joe started (look and style) to where they want to take it to now.

I think the movie is going to flop no matter what. I had GI Joe's and watched the show when I was a kid, but even the nostalgia factor can't excite me for this one (and I'm usually a sucker for nostalgia). I can see why Paramount would go this route though. Movies cost so much to make these days they can't afford to lose money in other territories. Plus I don't think the all-American theme would have even worked within the country in this day and age. People would just perceive it as being too corny. The un-funny Team America.

Did anyone ever have those G.I. book and records? True entertainment.
