so I'm still having problems with my ipod. This all worked perfectly before I reinstalled windows.

I uninstalled itunes 7 and put an older version that I know works better on my pc, since it's what I used before. Now my ipod wont even recognize with this. It says that the ipod cannot be used because it requires itunes version 7.0.2 or later. Okay, so I again used Apple's own program to restore my ipod that was bought years ago to factory settings.

It still won't work.

So I can't use an older version of itunes because my ipod somehow has magically been forever updated by version 7, and when I have version 7, it won't work properly.

******* this piece of ****. Is there any 3rd party program that can be used to place music on the ipod? I don't care about using itunes as a store. I already had my mp3's even before having this ipod. I just want to get my damn songs on this piece of trash, but the itunes is giving me hell for no apparent reason.

Does the "Sound Check" option not work very well for any of you guys out there? It's the option that supposedly equalizes the volume across all tracks. But I have some tracks that are much lower volume then others and it doesn't work very well. In fact, I turned the option off and it seems to work better that way.

Jailbreak allows you to install 3rd party apps. Google "jailbreakme iphone" and something should come up.

I have a jailbroken IPOD touch and its so-so as far as applications goes.

I have a question for you Ipod Classic owners, mine has started clicking every so often. It never did that before, and they are loud clicks when it does it. Does that mean the HDD might be in some trouble? This is the one thing I have hated with the Ipod.....it is making me want to sell it. LOL!

How are the Flash based Ipod Touch's working out for others so far? I like the 80GB due to the amount of content that I can place on here, but these damn HDD based iPod's just suck as I've heard others also have had issues with them in the past. When I had the 80GB Zune, you never heard a peep from the HDD.

I have an 8 gig Nano, and still have over a gig left. I would love a 16 GB version, but no big deal. I am not a fan of the touch, as I love how the Nano is just so small. Since I mainly only listen to music on it, about 95% of the time.

I would never buy another HDD player again, when I had my Dell DJ, I went through 2 of them with HDD failures. Whole reason I totally passed on the 80 GB version for the iPod.

It certainly is going to go... I would take it to an Apple store since you are guaranteed to be under the 1 yr warranty and sell it before Apple releases the new iPhone.

I guarantee you once the new iPhone is released you will find some great deals on eBay for an iPod touch. It's simply a phenomenal device.... plus once it is jailbroken you can customize it to your heart's desire.

Either way, I would make the move ASAP.

I guarantee you once the new iPhone is released you will find some great deals on eBay for an iPod touch. It's simply a phenomenal device.... plus once it is jailbroken you can customize it to your heart's desire.

Pared, is a new iPhone on the way? I'm getting sick of these HDD based mp3 players....nothing but problems.

How is the 16GB or even 30GB itouch? I need the space, but if I have to cut back on the amount of tunes I put on the thing, I will. Is the 30gb still $499 (which is too much imo).

Yeah, the 32GB touch is a complete rip-off... I don't mind $400 but once you hit half a grand you start to question the value...

A new iPhone will be out in about a month. It will basically be an improved version of the one out now with the ability to have faster internet speeds. I'm hoping an increase in available memory.

I have the 16GB touch and LOVE it. MGO has one also and I believe he likes it as well... I'm very visual and the touch is complete eye candy for me. Large, beautiful album art much like the Zune and a user interface that can't be beat.

You can't go wrong, IMO. I'll be switching over the new iPhone though. (Hopefully it will get a better battery) Currently, Edge is ridiculously slow. I don't know how people pay $20/month for what equates to dial-up internet access on their phone. The faster speeds will be more than welcome.

If the 32GB was $399, it would be well worth jumping on it. At $499, that to me is just insane. I think that I will sell my Classic and just wait a few days to think about getting a 16GB or trying to wait and see if the 32GB drops anytime soon. At this point, I am just going to get a flash player since the HDD based mp3 players are just a pain in the you know what.

Do you get a lot of finger prints on the touch? Do you feel like the screen will get worn out or any damage to the screen from your fingers, etc.? I know these are some dumb questions, but also some concerns.

I have a crystal clear screen protector on my touch and have had it since about October. No issues at all and the screen is just as responsive as the day I bought it. Fingerprints aren't an issue once you have the protector on it... just wipe it with your shirt.

Definitely take it to Apple before you sell it though... you don't want someone else getting the classic and asking you why is it clicking... or worse, dying on them 3 days later. Remember, you're under the warranty period for the classic since it was released less than a year ago.

I don't have a protector and my screen is fine...the back metal is scratched, but that happens to all iPods.

I took mine on my trip this weekend and watched a crapload of How I Met Your Mother on my flights...it was great on the touch, and I didn't have to lug around a bigger portable DVD player. I also like the internet/wifi stuff, it's come in handy on occasion.
