    Juno

    Trailer

Ellen Page stars as Juno (also the film’s title), a whip-smart teen confronting an unplanned pregnancy by her classmate Bleeker (Michael Cera). With the help of her hot best friend Leah (Olivia Thirlby), Juno finds her unborn child a “perfect” set of parents: an affluent suburban couple, Mark and Vanessa (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner), longing to adopt. Luckily, Juno has the total support of her parents (JK Simmons and Allison Janney) as she faces some tough decisions, flirts with adulthood and ultimately figures out where she belongs.

                Oh, positive reviews.

I was morbidly interested in watching this just because of Ellen Page (who was great in Hard Candy).

Then I became really serious after reading an article about the writer (who happens to be a stripper. Crazy, eh?) and how she avoided loads of cliches and tried to stay true to life in the script. When she gave examples I was sold.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I saw it today. It's good in a sort of bittersweet way. The characters are interesting and the dialogue is clever. Ebert had it as his best film of 2007 (above No Country for Old Men) > I'd flip the two.

I have never actually seen her speak. But there is something about her that would make me believe she's charming.
